Job Description and Requirements

The Opportunity The Department of Social Sciences at Zayed University is invitingapplications for full-time faculty positions in Anthropology.

Candidatesshould hold a doctorate in socio-cultural anthropology at the time of appointment and be willing to contribute toteaching in undergraduate and post-graduate programs.

Apart fromstandard introductory, theory, methods and critical thinkingcourses,specialization in one or more of the following substantive areaswould be an advantage : museum studies, popular cultures, andheritage.

We would like to encourage those with a regional specialization in the Gulf (not essential). In addition to teaching and scholarly requirements, faculty are expectedto provide service to the College and to the University;

to participatein standing committees; in the development, evaluation and revision of the college curriculum;in the implementation of assessment of major learningoutcomes;

and actively engage in research activities leading to thepublication of peer-reviewed articles and / or books in their area ofspecialization.

Faculty liaise extensively with external constituents tofurther the mission of the University within the community. The Requirements Successful candidates will fully meet the expectations for theposition,

A Ph.D. in Anthropology.

A proven record of excellence at baccalaureate-level teaching

Dedication to curricular innovation

Record of professional accomplishment including peer-reviewed research publications

Commitment to a sustained research program and interest in collaboration with other Faculty

Demonstrated ability to integrate web-based and / or digital technology in the classroom

Willingness to provide service to the University and the College

Experience with graduate programs would be an asset
