The Senior Producer plays a key role in the production of CNN International’s flagship nightly show, Connect the World with Becky Anderson.
Working as part of the Abu Dhabi-based show team, they are responsible for working alongside the Executive Editor to oversee the show production.
As a Senior Producer you will produce special news shows and high-profile programmes, including shows anchored in the field - both for planned news events and for breaking news.
What you’ll be doing :
Responsible for all aspects of the show, taking the programme to air from the control room.
Determine which stories will be presented in a newscast and how those stories will be presented.
In the run-up to the show, ensures all scripts are written, all graphics have been ordered and completed and all video material is in place and ready to air.
Coordinate the efforts of the writers who assist in the programme production.
Understand all the daily stories and what treatments the stories deserve for the show
After determining which stories will appear in the programme and their treatment, the producer must a build a "rundown" to guide the programme.
Producers will also be required to write some elements of the show, including show opens, teases and set-ups for special segments;
the Producer must then execute the rundown in the control room.
Oversees the control room team who get the show on air based on the rundown.
What we’re looking for :
A degree, ideally in journalism, arts or humanities, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience producing a show
Thorough knowledge of international news and regional affairs
Substantial experience in broadcast journalism
Excellent control room experience outputting newscasts
Proven gallery skills
Proven leadership skills
Good knowledge of television production
Excellent written and verbal English
Strong experience in a news environment.
Languages other than English, especially regional languages, are an advantage.
Willingness to travel and experience in the Middle East
