Description

The Computational Solid Mechanics (CSM) laboratory in the Division Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on the development of computational tools aimed to describe failure response of materials.

Required Qualifications :

A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering; with a focus on Computational Mechanics or a related field.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate experience in the development of computational solution algorithms for linear, nonlinear mechanics problems, including multiphysics problems.

Research project :

The successful applicant will lead a fascinating project aimed at improving the computational efficiency of damage and fracture mechanics algorithms for multi-fracture propagation scenarios in multiphysics conditions with multiscale considerations.

The applications of this research extend to several fields, including : geomechanics, biomechanics, mechanical and structural applications, and others.

The Postdoctoral Associate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to continuously document research progress in the form of scientific publications to be submitted to reputable journals.
