Strategic Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation of theCMHS’s strategy, with a focus on meeting theuniversity’s and CMHS strategic goals in the areas ofmedical student assessment and evaluation.
  • Contribute to development of the CMHS’spolicies and procedures, adhering to the overall objectives of theUniversity, ensuring alignment to applicable regulations andstandards and promoting of leading practices and educationalexcellence
  • Contribute to the development andmanagement of the office budget
  • Manage andmentor staff within the office
  • Operational Responsibilities

    Assessment and Evaluation

  • Incoordination with the Assistant Dean for Medical Education,oversees the Office of Assessment and Evaluation.
  • Supports CMHS accreditation processes and its program ofcontinuous quality improvement
  • Works with theDean, Associate Deans, Curriculum Committee, and teaching facultyto plan, develop, implement, and assess all methods of studentassessment and evaluation across the entire four-year program toensure that all methods are state-of-the art.
  • Ensures that academic programs and services conform tolaws, regulations, and policies of the United ArabEmirates
  • Ensures the activities of the officeare in alignment with accreditation guidelines
  • In coordination with the Assistant Dean for MedicalEducation and other departments and offices within KU and the CMHS,participates in design, implementation, management and evaluationof the medical curriculum.
  • Serves anex-officio, non-voting member of the CMHS Curriculum Committee;provides data to inform the process of curriculum assessment andmanagement;
  • makes recommendations to the Assistant Dean of MedicalEducation and the Curriculum Committee.

  • Provides routine reports to the Dean, Associate andAssistant Deans, and standing CMHS committees asdirected
  • Works with the faculty in creatingexams (including computerized tests) to assure they meet standardsof excellence
  • Supervising the statistician,produces detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis for alladministered assessment.
  • Ensures timelysubmission of medical student grades and evaluations from coursedirectors; and compiles and maintains a database of studentperformance data;
  • supervises collection of evaluative data andprovides analysis for the Medical Student PerformanceEvaluation

  • Serves as Chief Proctor for theNBME, and oversees exam proctors and the computer-based testinglab
  • Provides reports to the Dean and AssociateDeans to inform and improve academic and administrativeprocesses
  • Assists in developing policies andprocedures of the CMHS;
  • RequiredExperiences

  • Minimumthree (3) years of experience in medical education (includingdetailed knowledge of preclinical and clinical components of amedical school curriculum).
  • Proven managementexperience, requisite expertise in working collaboratively withfaculty members and medicine professionals, strong interpersonalskills, and a thorough understanding of university structure andculture are essential.
  • Demonstrable ethicalbehavior, professionalism, interpersonal skills, leadership andmanagement abilities that are sufficient to effectively direct anddevelop staff and students.
