Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Corrosion and Materials Engineer with at least 10 years experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

The primary function of the Senior Corrosion & Materials Engineer will be to oversee day-to-day completion of engineering work scopes, which would typically include :

  • Providing technical support in BNGL project’s related tasks; RBI and Corrosion Inspection Manuals for their operating assets and new projects
  • The responsibility to mentor and coach the graduate engineers
  • Development of corrosion monitoring philosophies and strategies
  • Materials and corrosion studies (including coating selection) and specifications
  • Developing piping inspection strategies and identification of corrosion monitoring locations
  • Development of corrosion management strategies and corrosion manuals
  • Performing corrosion-rate calculations, corrosion modelling and contribute to fitness for purpose studies
  • Integrity assessment of cathodic protection systems
  • Undertaking Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment studies
  • Assisting in the training and development of other team members
  • Liaising with clients to develop discrete work scopes and build professional working relationship
  • Responsible for the ongoing Corrosion Management Programmes and RBI work technical assurance
  • Will be shadowing the Materials & Corrosion Lead (Team Lead) for the business in support of the growth and technical assurance delivery
  • Skills, Competencies and Experience Needed :

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards that affect corrosion engineering and materials selection
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of risk based inspection methodologies (quantitative and semi-quantitative)
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of integrity operating windows (IOWs) identification and implementation
  • Possess extensive knowledge of metallurgy, engineering materials, operating environment and material degradation mechanisms
  • Experience of motivating and mentoring young professional engineering specialists
  • Experience in managing and technically leading project work and managing client relations
  • Experience of writing and checking technical reports
  • Experience in the development of cost, time and resource estimates and the development of technical bids and proposals
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and experience with corrosion modelling software
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with others on technical issues
  • Correctly adhere to the Company Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies
  • Skills / Qualifications

    Experience :

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a role which has had a primary technical function of providing corrosion engineering services in the oil and gas petrochemical industries
  • Qualifications :

  • Engineering degree from a recognised university or college (Materials / Metallurgy / Chemistry / Chemical / Mechanical) (Essential)
  • Masters’ degree (Desirable)
  • Nace Advanced Corrosion Control or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Certified API 571 / API 580 (Desirable)
