Based in the UAE, Jacobs’ operational hub within the GCC, you’ll have an opportunity to develop a wide range of consultancy service offerings within the Ports and Maritime line of business with the support of regional and global Subject Matter Experts.

As a Mechanical Engineer (Building Mechanical Services), you will provide planning, development of design for building Mechanical services and become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

You will be responsible for Firefighting design and system selection including but not limited to Sprinkler system, Clean Agent, Portable Extinguishers, Foam Extinguisher system for Buildings in line with local and international codes alongside Hydraulic design for domestic cold water, hot water, wastewater, pump stations, design of hydrants, sprinklers, fire pumps & other firefighting design.

You will be able to utilize your knowledge on Civil Defense approval process in Middle east region Civil defense in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, HCIS in KSA etc.

You will prepare and check equipment specification, datasheet, material requisition. You will undertake technical bid analysis of vendor offer, vendor drawing review of mechanical equipment such as HVAC equipment (AHU, Chiller, Fans etc.

firefighting equipment (fire pumps, clean agent, preaction system etc) with a good understanding of BOQs and specifications for tender documents and checking of drawings.

This role will allow you to interact with your own and other discipline to complete design tasks. You will coordinate structural and architectural drawings with other services drawings to integrate with Mechanical drawings prior to issuance.

You will be responsible for interaction with clients, contractors, vendors. Travels to client sites for project meetings, presentations, etc.

and with the team on specifications, estimates and contractual issues. You will have to prepare budgets, schedules, and project status reports and technical bid analysis reports.

Must be able to do vendor document review. You will manage team to complete tasks within established project schedule and budget constraints and should be capable of leading projects up to team of 5-7 members.

You will have good experience in customer handling - discussing technical reports / input requirements / issues and challenges with customer proactively.

Here's What You'll Need :

As a successful candidate you will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of 8 -15 years’ experience providing Concept, Space planning & detailed design of Building Mechanical services which includes Firefighting, HVAC and Plumbing services.

You will also possess : -

  • Thorough Knowledge of plumbing and Firefighting service in line with local and international codes such as NFPA, IPC. NFPA experience mandatory.
  • Capable of working on the software’s like -HAP, Duct sizing, HVAC equipment selections like Chillers, AHUs, FANs, FCUS etc.
  • Good communication and presentation skills and excellent report writing skills.
  • Experience in working in Revit (MEP) software will be an advantage.
  • Experience in energy modelling software like Trace 3D / Equest / IES knowledge will be added advantage.
  • In depth knowledge of HVAC ASHARE standards and other international codes on energy savings.
  • Demonstrate a reliable, responsive, and positive work ethic with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and to set priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Possess a strong work ethic.
  • Experience on Substation, Workshop, Warehouse, Pump House design in container terminals.
