QUALIFICATION / SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree (BA or B.Ed. in teaching orPGCE-Postgraduate certificate in education) in education / specificsubject

area (subject specialization is a requirementfor teaching in G6-G12).

  • Minimum twoyears of teaching experience in an American curriculum schooland / or IB school
  • Proven track-record ineffective, student centric instructional strategies that motivateslearners of all kind
  • Ability to effectivelyanalyze and apply data to inform instructional practices anddifferentiate learning
  • Effective communicatorwith ability to provide formative and constructive feedback forenhanced learning
  • Highly developedinternationally-minded, positive interpersonal and collaborativeskills
  • Highly developed organizational skillsand ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability tobe flexible, patient, adapt to new situations and innovate learningenvironments
  • A positive attitude tostudents and parents

  • INSTRUCTIONAND ASSESSMENT

    Demonstrates extensiveknowledge of content, AERO standards and IB Programme(s), and awide range of

    instructional pedagogies

  • Applies knowledge of varied approaches tolearning in instruction, lesson planning, questioning, andassessment
  • Utilizes technology effectively,where appropriate, both in classroom, instruction, and for studentassignments to
  • advance theeducational process and engage students

  • Ensures that all learning objectives are clear andcommunicated effectively to students
  • Demonstrates classroom management and ensures thatstandards of conduct are clear to all students and appearto
  • have been developed with studentparticipation i.e. a classroom EssentialAgreement

  • Creates a classroomenvironment that is safe, inclusive, engaging, student-centered,and inquiry-based
  • Documents eachstudent’s progress consistently throughout the course ofthe year, and efficiently collects evidence of
  • learning and progress

  • Provides high quality and regular feedback both formative and summative that is an accuratereflection of the
  • student

  • Ensures that students have regularopportunities for reflection and self - assessment
  • Utilizes a variety of internal and external assessmentstools to inform instruction
  • PLANNING &CURRICULUM

    Demonstrates in planning andpreparation coherent instructional design

  • Ensures that the classroom contains all items on thelearning environment checklist
  • Designslearning activities that are differentiated in approach
  • Constantly reflects on curriculum resources that meet theAERO priority standards
  • Uses student dataeffectively in planning for teaching and learning
  • Works collaboratively to complete a unit planner forevery unit of inquiry (UOI) / interdisciplinary unit (IDU)

  • COMMUNICATIONAND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

    Providesregular information to parents through the school’sdigital communication platforms, as appropriate, about the

    instructional program, student progress, both academic anddevelopmental

  • Meets withparents / guardians regularly (min. 3 times per AY) to discuss thestudent progress and provide feedback on
  • improvement plans

  • Communicates regularly with appropriate school personnelabout the student's academic, social, andemotional
  • development, includingdivision leadership and Student Support Services

    Advises and collaborates with the SLT and other teachers in thepreparation and development of courses, teaching and

    learning methodologies, assessment and pastoral carearrangements
