Creative Associates seeks Chief of Party (COP) candidates to lead anticipated donor-funded opportunities in our Communities in Transition practice area.
The COP will be based in West Africa, with exact location dependent on the project and will be responsible for technical leadership and management of the program.
S / he will oversee long-term staff and short-term experts in achieving program results. The COP will serve as the primary liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and consortium partners on management and technical matters.
The COP will report directly to the Project Director at headquarters and will supervise various project staff.
Primary Responsibilities :
Oversee the overall management and implementation of project activity;
Supervise activity implementation and ensure the activity meets stated goals and reporting requirements;
Actively engage key stakeholders in the region, including national governments, regional entities, and USAID-funded implementing partners;
Actively identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate program adjustments;
Produce and oversee production of deliverables related to democracy, governance, peacebuilding, and stability;
Oversee the coordination of local and international partners, as well as sub-recipients and sub-grantees;
Facilitate and support partnerships, collaboration, and collective action between a diverse group of local stakeholders;
Mentor and coach staff to support their professional development and application of skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles;
Manage a diverse team to deliver impact within agreed timelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
An advanced degree in business administration, economics, international development, social sciences, or a related field;
At least 10 years of experience of progressively increasing responsibilities in complex management roles, with at least 5 years as a COP or team leader with demonstrated supervisory experience
Proven expertise in governance, conflict prevention, resilience-building, transnational dynamics and / or similar programming;
Familiarity with and experience working in West Africa is required;
Proven ability to effectively work and mentor staff in multicultural societies;
Proven ability to collaborate successfully with USAID, regional institutions and organizations, government officials, international donors, and civil society organizations;
Experience with adaptive management approaches, collaborating, learning, and adapting (CLA) and overseeing M&E activities on donor-funded projects;
Experience advancing equity and inclusion of women, youth, and other marginalized groups;
Fluency in written and spoken English. Professional proficiency in French is required.
