OVERVIEW
The Middle East Producer is responsible for helping lead the creation and production of CNBC live business news shows and show segments, working with the VP, International Managing Editor on overall content and production.
A key function of this role is editing and subbing scripts and production elements in the daily rundown, as well as helping train and develop the skills of more junior producers.
They will work in close collaboration and effectively coordinate with the production teams in Singapore. The role will be based in Abu Dhabi and report to VP, International Managing Editor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the VP, International Managing Editor in managing the show production team
Responsible for effective completion of tasks such as segments, scripts, graphics and guest booking
Write headlines and key top stories in the daily rundown
Build the initial structure and stacking live show rundowns
Sub-edit scripts, graphics and production elements to ensure error free output and editorial integrity.
Support the VP, International Managing Editor in forward planning the shows for the next week and weeks ahead
Plan and execute compelling story ideas in both live, pre-recorded and package formats, ensuring clear communication with producers and reporters in the field
Produce and project-manage live and pre-recorded outside broadcasts in the UAE region
Live gallery production, with a responsibility for reacting to breaking news
Build and maintain relationships with CNBC guests and contributors
Pitch story and guest ideas and coordinate closely with news desk in booking guests
Communicate with news editors, anchors, and operations staff
Cooperate with other departments, especially the operations, gallery and graphics teams to make the best possible programming.
Work with CNBC global teams as necessary
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
University degree or equivalent experience
Good knowledge of the Middle East region
Previous experience within a leading international news organisation
Previous experience in TV News Production and monitoring, selecting and delivering breaking news
Capable of handling short deadlines and work in a fast-paced and demanding live news environment
Excellent knowledge of global business, economics, and financial markets
A clear understanding of CNBC’s editorial and programming priorities
Control room / gallery experience
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of iNews, Video editing TV Production systems, TV graphic systems
Strong understanding of the role of social media in news broadcasting and multi-platform delivery
Fluency in English a must and knowledge of Arabic preferable
