Upstream Technology Consulting Associate Director

The Upstream Technology Consulting Associate Director will function as a core member of the Upstream Consulting team which provides consulting services around the key IHS Markit competencies of technology management and related matters in field Development Planning and Operations.
Working closely with the Upstream Technology and Innovation research team and the global consulting team this position will provide experience and leadership around some of the following areas :
Technology application screening and cost / benefit analysis, including prioritization of technology development efforts based on industry trends and company-specific factors.
Benchmarking companies’ technology applications and R&D efforts around both digital technologies and core upstream technologies market reviews the status of Digitalization in Upstream and the market potential for new solutions for service providers.
Data management practices and data analytics R&D Management Technology related input to reviews of project designs and best practices e.
g. for LNG / Carbon Capture / Unconventional Resources / new materials or processes.
Working closely with the research teams and wider IHS Markit consulting teams, this position will be primarily responsible for the delivery of consulting projects base both in IHS Markit offices and on site at client locations, generally under supervision from a more experienced colleague.
It is also expected that as the candidate will also develop the skills to participate in the complete consulting cycle from lead generation, scope preparation and solution building, managing client deliverable's and project management reporting.
Specific Job Duties :
Contribute to consulting projects as required and as driven by business needs by working either individually or under the direction of a consulting project leader, providing subject matter expertise in areas of assigned disciplines to support delivery of high-
quality client-specific projects.
Work with the Consulting team leader(s) and Upstream research teams on Technology and Cost to develop solutions to customer requests including preparation of proposals, capability statements, marketing information and estimates for completing consulting projects.
Use company corporate systems for management of pipeline, backlog and approvals.
Collaborate with Upstream Technology & Innovation teams to develop Research materials and present to clients and support sales of the Research subscription products in region alongside consulting applications.
Respond to client questions relating to Technology and Costs and related subjects by quickly identifying the appropriate go-
to Research or Consulting Colleagues; utilize resources and judgment to address questions and / or refer questions to senior level staff in a timely manner to provide customer delight in situations of one-on-one client needs.
Continuously deepen and broaden subject matter expertise particularly in Upstream / energy Technology and Innovation and build external recognition by continuously interacting with clients, presenting at company and industry events, collaborating with sales / marketing and product management staff.
Required Education :
Bachelor's or higher degree in chemical, mechanical or petroleum engineering or similar related fields required; graduate degree preferred.
Required Experience :
Minimum of 7 years directly related experience with direct experience in Upstream / Energy technology related consulting gained from a Technology practice in a management consultant.
Experience of working in an operator or oilfield service company is highly desirable.
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of consulting projects in technology, e.g. around digitalization in the oilfield, technology bench-
marking, managing innovation, data management
Other Skills :
Experience in Technology bench-marking.
Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective / productive communications with key people including senior level clients.
Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Demonstrated ability to work effectively either individually or in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, heavily matrixed organization.
Requires a keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated relationship management skills are essential, including the ability to relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally, and to form strong relationships with key decision makers.
This position may be required to travel on a moderate basis up to 40%; for meetings and projects held in client offices, events, round tables and other business related needs.
