The Senior English Editor oversees the content creation process, and manage junior editors. The senior editor and his or her editorial team proofread text and improve its clarity, spelling and punctuation.
The Senior Editor is responsible for maintaining consistency, readability and accuracy. The successful editor will expedite content development while ensuring the content’s quality.
In particular Memac Ogilvy is looking for a Senior English Editor that will take care of a key Government account within the Tourism sector.
A big part of the responsibility will lay in leading a project to rewrite all content in our client website as well as writing new content for the site.
Ensuring this project is done within the timeline, as well coordinating with a separate team that handles the translation to 10 languages and the uploading of content to the CMS.
The Senior English Editor, not only needs to ensure that English content is of the highest standards, but also that when this content is uploaded to the client CMS, the pages are displayed correctly.
As the leading on this website project, the Senior English Editor will be responsible for quality control and how these pages in English are being rendered in the client’s website.
Lead a project to revamp completely the content on a travel website.
Ensure this project has the write team in place in terms of junior editors
Ensure the website project is delivered in a timeline fashion and with the highest quality standards
Review quality of work of junior editors
Know exactly the amount of words that have been rewritten and how many words are left to rewrite. In short, the Senior English Editor needs to know at all times how we are on the project
Provide a bi-weekly report to the client with face-to-face meeting regarding project status
Ensure there is a quality control process
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Learn the client business, prepare client deliverables and become a brand expert and trusted client advisor
Perform day-to-day account work confidently and competently
Work effectively with team members, to implement assignments on budget and on deadline, balancing priorities
Understand basic principles of direct marketing, offer targeting and segmentation strategies
Demonstrate familiarity with online marketing channels such as email marketing and overall best practices
Lead and perform community management
Manage creative development & review process
Liaise between client, outside suppliers and other internal and external contacts
Build expertise on a brand’s competitive landscape and product differentiators
Understand appropriate research techniques for strategy, creative, and media needs
Write simple creative briefs and POV’s with supervision
Participate in / has exposure to development of client marketing strategy
Establish core relationships with junior clients
Know when to escalate potential problems
Develop key creative relationships
Evaluate creative work and provides feedback for revisions, as needed
Adequately represent client interests to team
Collaborate with specialists at appropriate times to ensure consensus around scoping, project approach, etc.
Co-ordinate social media projects and campaigns with various stakeholders
Understand the implications of business strategy on project decisions
Sets up meetings, includes the appropriate stakeholders, and provides accurate agendas and precise, actionable meeting notes
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
At least 5 years’ experience creating content for the Web
Strong writing skills in English (Arabic not required but would be a plus)
Experience in creating content for travel sector would be desired
Project management skills
