Work in tandem with Senior Vice President and Founder in the innovation and development of quality products that meet brand strategy and are launched within marketing calendar timeframes, specifically the Fragrance Category.

Accountabilities : Acute sensitivity, awareness and understanding of the Founders personal approach and philosophy to Fragrance and Beauty.

This is key, to be able to appropriately and successfully propose scents and evaluate submissions. Awareness and ability to follow when Founder’s approach and philosophy evolves, as the brand evolves.

Work with the Founder, Senior Vice President, Fragrance Houses, Formula Suppliers, Supply Chain, Packaging, New Launch Manager, Procurement and Marketing to ensure all products meet key milestones and are launched on time.

Brief product concepts, once concept has been approved by the Founder, Marketing, Procurement and Finance. Commitment to product development within established target costs and timeline goals.

Work with Regulatory Lead to establish due dates and coordinate to gather samples required. Approval from the Senior Vice President and sign off for costs.

Build a robust 3-year innovation pipeline / launch calendar in collaboration with founder and SVP of Product Development.

Propose naming options for new projects. Coordinate brainstorming sessions with wider team and marketing counterparts as needed.

Once approved with the Founder, partner with Legal team to run legal searches. Create, gather, attain approvals and provide all artwork information and their translations for primary and secondary packaging to Design Lead for artwork briefing in time for artwork due dates.

Align with Senior Vice President before brief to Design, lead on pack design and artwork at the appropriate project development stages.

Gather inspiration from the Founder to lead briefs while applying awareness and commitment to core products branding imagery.

Coordinate and conduct in-house, internal evaluation of submissions for fragrance preferences, product performance, formats, as needed.

Communicate formula direction to appropriate. Review and present to the Senior Vice President for alignment and finally the Founder for evaluation, further feedback or approval.

Independent travel to internationally located CMs on a regular basis for development of new product concepts and calendarized formula development and pre-production.

Reponsible for approving lab standard with Senior Vice President, Pack Engineer and the Founder and dispatching them to relevant parties on time.

Coordinate with QC on renewal of product standards. Ensure all aspects of the product aesthetics from formula, application and olfactive factors meet standards.

Develop Fragrance inspired moodboards to be used for campaigns and further assets in collaboration with the Director and to be presented and approved by the Founder.

Attendance of trade shows, returning with detailed coverage of new technologies and Fragrance innovations. Analysis of new technologies and Fragrances from trade shows and vendor visits to HQ, for ultimate proposal of new launches, range extension, formula renovation that compliment and strengthen existing portfolio of Fragrance products.

Track key trends, new ingredients, claims, and the general competitive environment for new product concepts. Mobilize internal resources (Marketing, Trainers, BAs ) to complement EXPERIENCES & SKILLS At least 2-3 years previous experience in working for a beauty brand in a Product Development capacity (at least 1 year in Fragrance Product Development preferred).

OBSESSION with all things Beauty and Fragrance related. Constant improvement in process and product, before and after launch.

Know-how, flexibility and creativity to use PD experience as a foundation to deliver results that may not follow traditional PD processes.

Attention to detail while managing multiple fast moving, quick changing projects. Awareness and attention to detail to maintain brand’s identity through consistency in verbal and non-verbal communication across franchises as the brand grows.

Ability to anticipate change in project strategy or product development process, and drive to be able to adapt so that time lost is minimized.

Proactivity and flexibility in creative solutions to problem solve. Comfort in navigation of claims language creation for new product launches.

Ability to present as needed to internal and external teams. Ability to summarize and simplify the information when presenting to the Founder or internal parties developing products.

Make sure concept / product and info are easily understandable. Inherent understanding of basic chemistry of beauty products.
