The Senior Counsellor is responsible to support students in understanding with personal issues to enhance the overall student experience on campus and enabling them to become more effective inside and outside the campus through individual and / or group counseling.
The incumbent is also responsible to support students in making appropriate choices and decisions.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Psychology.
Minimum of four years of work experience in Counselling or any relevant field.
Develop and maintain relationships with students.
Schedule appointments with students in need as and when needed.
Provide counseling for students on personal matters; this includes, but is not limited to, stress, anxiety, depression and eating disorders.
Support students to cope with personal issues in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
Support students in decision-making regarding ways forward.
Plan and run workshops for students for group counseling on a periodic basis.
Liaise with faculty members to discuss student cases as and when needed.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive student database; maintain the confidentiality of records.
Refer students to appropriate campus resources for assistance as and when needed (e.g. Academic Advisor, Career Coach, etc.).
