Job Role : Compliance Manager -Shipping / Marine / Bunkering

A leading oil,chemicals and steel products company with offices across the globe(Europe, Asia, Middle-East, Africa and former CISregion).

KeyResponsibilities :

  • Develop, initiate, maintain and revise policies andprocedures for the general operation of the compliance program andits related activities to prevent illegal, unethical or improperconduct
  • Manage day-to-day operation of thecompliance program
  • Collaborate with otherdepartments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existingchannels for investigation and resolution
  • Consult with general counsel as needed to resolvedifficult legal compliance issues
  • Respond toalleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures andstandards of conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiationof investigative procedures
  • Develop andoversee a system for uniform handling of such violations
  • Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate complianceactivities of other departments to remain abreast of the status ofall compliance activities and to identify trends
  • Provide reports on a regular basis and, as directed orrequested, keep the Corporate Compliance Committee and seniormanagement informed of the operation and progress of complianceefforts
  • Institute and maintain an effectivecompliance communication program for the organization
  • Work with the human resource department and others asappropriate to develop an effective compliance training program,including appropriate introductory training for new employees andongoing training for all employees and managers
  • Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Complianceadvisory from Shipping / bunkering background.
  • Working Knowledge of port and shipping industry is ofcritical advantage
  • Knowledge of theInternational Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS)Code
  • Strong investigational, analytical,ethics and problem-solving skills
  • Ability tohit the ground running
  • Extraordinary attentionto details
  • Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills
  • Ability to build rapportwith clients
  • Experience working with people ofdifferent backgrounds and a high level of culturalcompetency
  • Strong regulatory compliance,investigation or audit experience gained within a financialservice, legal or regulatory environment demonstrating solidunderstanding of the UAE or UK regulatory environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and managementskills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage andadvise on regulatory projects.
  • Strongcommercial orientation, with proven ability to assess a diverserange of financial service businesses and provide pro-activesolutions.
  • Experience advising clients andimplementing frameworks meeting industry and leading practicesstandards and frameworks
  • Notable customerexperience and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically aboutbusiness, product, and technical challenges
  • Highly technical and analytica
