Job Purpose :

Operations Manager is responsible for consistent operational excellence across stores. Has P&L accountability and must be able to drive sales, and maintain highest merchandising standards in the store through the store teams.

The job holder is responsible for the customer experience within the stores to reflect brand values and customer promise.

He / she creates a working environment which encourages brand values, team work and delivery of results.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES : Specify the output required from the job. Identify not more than 7 Key Accountabilities & their performance indicators.

Retail Operations

Provide general leadership for the entire region and set sales and profit goals, plan facilities, and ensures that proper inventory levels are maintained.

Prepare an annual operating budget for stores and ensure maximum profitability by managing the budget effectively.

Review sales results regularly and takes aggressive action to correct deficiencies and maximize productivity

Setting and delivery of operational standards for the stores in terms of visual merchandising , availability, customer service stock maintenance, safety and security while maintaining brand integrity through display standards.

Ensures the maintenance of high standards in housekeeping, merchandise presentation, training programs and customer service

Financial

Own and develop SLS Al-Futtaim strategy

Strategic and tactical level operations planning for retail function.

Monitor and control the budget and operational costs of all stores and overhead retail

Enforce procedures to maintain stocks and systems accuracy and profit protection across all countries.

Drive cost saving and efficiency throughout the retail operations by challenging existing standards

Work with HRBP to budget manpower costs, closely monitor staff costs and set productivity targets

Control stores expenses by Assessing the accuracy of merchandise distribution and store assortment through store visits, assortment reports and discussions with planners

Human Resource Management

Maximizes sales by developing sales-oriented managers

Monitors training programs to ensure all managers are properly trained in management skills and customer service

Review the development needs of staff and store management and ensure training plans are implemented. Perform interim and annual appraisals as required.

Work with HRBP to deliver targeted people solutions to create employee engagement, compliance to HR Policies and local legislation

Work with HR to budget manpower costs, closely monitor staff costs and set productivity targets.

Work with Regional Managers to coach Store Managers, and ensure succession plans and training plans are in place in each store

Act as a role model Al-Futtaim Way behaviours as a senior manager.

Communication :

Prepare feedback and present reports to the management team regarding sales and margin performance of stores, marketing information and analysis of opportunities as well contributing to the development of short & long term strategies for the brand

Process & Compliance :

Monitor all locations to ensure efficient archiving practices in line with Group Internal Audit requirements.

Support the store teams by ensuring all Health, Safety and Security standards are being achieved in order to minimise risk to the business, employees and customers.

Support the business by streamlining communication and by driving cost savings.

Policies & Procedures

Develop store procedures in conjunction with the store teams, regional office and Retail Compliance Manager and ensure smooth implementation and compliance checks.

Review and where necessary revise and or amend the standard operating procedures as per business requirement and in line with Group Internal Audit.

Review all internal audit reports when published and support the Area Managers and the store manager in compiling recommendations and updates to Group Internal Audit.

Review all store internal audit reports and implement necessary corrective action required.

New Store Development / Refurbishment & Business Development :

Plans and establishes systems to control expenses in all branch stores.

Monitor store opening activities and ensure compliance to legislation and brand requirements are met prior to operations start.

Ensure that agreed standards are achieved, municipality regulations are adhered to, budgets are met and the project plan is prepared with timescales completed.

Ensure that the store opening deadline is met.

JOB CONTEXT : Define organizational policy and other factors that have a critical impact on the job

Job holder will be exposed to senior management of principal, retail division, corporate as well as government officials.

This exposure will require high level of diplomacy to maintain positive relations with different stakeholders.

Job holder will need to scan, act with a sense of urgency and alertness to developments in the different markets to ensure opportunities are addressed and risks are minimized.

Job holder needs to understand the core subjects of Health&Safety, Age restricted Sales, GM Pricing and ticketing policies as well as ensure TSL principles are applied properly.

Job holder plays a key role in chalking out the overall operational policy regarding the types of equipment needed to fulfill the organizational quality policy.

Job holder could also formulate suggestions on how to make an optimum use of the resources of the organization (for example : Enterprise Resource Planning and Supply Chain Management).

Job holder ensures all stores have an emergency plan and employees are aware of the emergency action plan.

Job holder needs to establish a routine in the stores to ensure focus on different aspects of operation via Working Week Framework, constant communication flow between stores and retail head office as well as continuity of the plans in all stored, and ensure all duty managers are trained in relevant procedures

Job holder provides clear financial direction to the stores through analyzing key financial / operationalperformance reports, identifying risks and managing action to resolve

Job holder ensures a robust control of tills / cashin stores , ensures all till / cash control audits are completed as per store procedures
