The International Participants Department at Expo 2020 Dubai is responsible for the management of quality participation of official participants at the Expo.
The Pavilion Content Designer will work directly with the Storytelling and Content Curation team to develop and visualise concepts to ensure that the pavilions and its content are exceptionally complementary.
Main responsibilities for this role include :
Conceptual modelling, creating initial design sketches, as well as detailed computer-generated 2D and 3D visuals, sometimes building models and prototypes;
Liaising with internal and external teams to explore all material and structural opportunity;
Ensure all exhibitions and displays have a definite link to Expo2020 other assets and overall theme;
Work with members from other areas of the content team to produce outline plans to specification and supporting material;
Consider materials and costs according to set budgets;
Research and gather information and photographs relating to the projects;
Produce 'sample' or 'mood' boards to present to concerned stakeholders;
Source products, e.g. fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decoration and dressing, and provide samples for concerned stakeholders;
Prepare detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes, often using computer-aided design software;
Work closely with quantity surveyors to establish costs and work schedules on projects, with architects and other design professionals to determine the best use of space and with manufacturers and contractors.
5+ years of design-related experience (ie. architecture or urbanism), as well as :
Design-related degree such as Architecture / Urbanism or Design;
A high level of technical knowledge, including 2D and 3D modeling skills;
Knowledge and experience using design software, such as Auto CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3DS Max, SketchUp, plus standard software such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel;
Project management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines;
Strong aesthetic and solid technical design knowledge with understanding and / or hands-on experience in specific exhibition skillsets;
Pragmatic and able to research, analyze and solve problems as required;
Fluent in English is a must with other languages preferred (Arabic, French, or Spanish);
Detail oriented with high attention to detail and quality;
Diplomatic and discreet.
