The Contract Logistics Business Development & Solution Specialist is responsible to develop, in cooperation with the Business Development & solution engineer team in the country, existing or new Contract Logistics business within the given strategy for a country and / or a cluster.

The response has to set actions in order to ensure the utilization of existing capabilities, to increase / develop new business and ensure timely and quality responses on RFQ’s.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • PRE-SALES :
  • Support internal stakeholders with a strategy and Business development plan for the country / cluster specific Contract Logistics Market and update the related activities on a yearly basis.
  • Develop strong opportunity pipeline for Contract Logistics sales opportunities
  • Driving tactical sales measures to fill idle space.
  • Identify contacts of potential and target customers, align with strategy industry, products, and geographies , open doors and start a relationship on local level.
  • Networking with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prioritization of Industry focus and customers (TOP200, R / NKA s) for the country.
  • TENDER MANAGEMENT :
  • Value assessment of tenders and opportunities for Contract Logistics, initiating of go no-go decision process (must for TOP 200 Accounts)
  • Ownership of the sales process for local tender projects.
  • Coordinate the response with all relevant business fields within Kuehne + Nagel and engage the required resources, in order to finalize the value solution.
  • Work on RFI / RFQ / RFP written responses
  • Articulate the customer demand and specific request within the project to ensure the right internal understanding of the solution design.
  • Articulate the proper solution description to avoid misunderstandings or wrong interpretations.

  • Federate Teams to work on value creations and professional solution conceptions.
  • Challenge the calculation concept operationally as well as commercially (on productivity-, cost-, pricing, margin-level, etc.)
  • Discuss price level with responsible profit + loss (P&L) person.
  • Facilitate final approvals for submission to customers.
  • Customer retention and development.
  • Facilitate cross-selling between K+N countries, to and from the Strategic Customer Development
  • Program accounts, TOP 200 accounts and to and from air-, sea- and rail / road freight customers.
  • Your skills and experience

  • The ideal candidate has a Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree or any higher degree would be considered a plus
  • Experience with national sales and / or account management and proven success in the business development of minimum three years is mandatory
  • Solid understanding and experience of the theory and practice of supply chain management
  • Prior experience in Contract Logistics and Third-party Logistics of at least two years is essential for the role
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to act independently while working in a team
  • Be able to break down complex issues in concrete actions
  • Show drive and commitment to help the contract logistics team, in general, to achieve its targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English is mandatory, knowledge of Arabic or any other language is highly preferred
