Job Description

To provide occupational health / medical consultation to internal customers and provide strategies and communications needed to integrate the occupational health programs and protocols into the overall H&S framework, in order to ensure all occupational health related aspects of employees’ ability to work are optimized while meeting regulatory obligations.

Occupational Health and Medical Services Program Development and Management

Provides direction for the management of the Occupational Health Services section and provide recommendations to the Head of Health on needs that will ensure compliance with UAE laws and regulations.

  • Provides technical expertise in the ongoing development of Occupational Health Services program for an operating nuclear power plant;
  • turn-key integrated solutions and specialty services in the functional area of occupational health services.

    Facilitates / assists with oversight of the occupational health / medical surveillance programs ensuring compliance with UAE laws, regulations, nuclear industry best practice, and Nawah standards.

    As the medical subject matter expert, develop and maintain the Nawah Medical Examiners Guide / Protocols

    Provides direct oversight of medical surveillance programs such as hearing conservation and respiratory protection as well as Operator qualifications, etc.

    Serves as the technical interface on contracts for medical vendors, Audiology Services, and Prescription Safety Eyewear, Physician oversight / Medical Review Officer (MRO) requiring partnering with Procurement / Supply Chain to plan, source, and negotiate each contract to achieve business process improvements and total cost reduction.

    Establishes, manages / oversees the Occupational Health data system, electronic medical records system.

    Oversees quantitative respirator fit testing program and process - (Non-Radiological minimally)

    Provides ownership and oversight of Nawah’s Blood borne Pathogens program including training.

    Provides ownership of the Nawah Medical Records, including maintaining the active and inactive records ensuring the proper handling, storage, and confidentiality of all medical data.

    Oversees medical provider’s performance of follow up care; provide direct inputs for case management and return to work guidance to line management.

    Customer / Supplier Relations

    Serves as the occupational health / medical services subject matter expert for occupational medical related topics and performs as technical consultant for line management and as a liaison between line management and medical providers.

    Interfaces with the Medical Service Provider in facilitating medical surveillances and general medical services.

    Develops and sustains quality working relationships with customers and suppliers.

    Provides recommendations for return to work / case management as required by management.

    Supports the Head of Health to source and procure external medical vendors to provide primary and / or overflow medical services.

    Ensure contract adherence and perform quality assurance, while enforcing Nawah procedures and work standards.

    Coordinates with internal stakeholders ensuring occupational health standards and requirements are incorporated into the Occupational Health program and subsequently into the Health and Safety Management System.

    Serves as a Project Leader to source, procure, and implement an Occupational Health electronic medical records system to replace manual processes with automation that will subsequently assist in regulatory compliance.

    Manages and / or oversees (oversee minimally) the onsite occupational health services as needed.


    Bachelor’s Degree in Medical / Health related field

    Registered Nurse or equivalent.

    Internationally recognized medical / health-related certification(s) and / or registration(s)

    Qudorat - (Must obtain within 12 months of hire)

    10 years demonstrated experience in program or program management related to Occupational Health and Medical Services

    3 years’ experience implementing occupational health / medical services programs in a nuclear power organization

    3 years experience in performing medical surveillance exams, medical assessments

    Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Sr. Specialist or above and Supervisory experience in a Medical / Health related field


    Bachelor’s Degree in Medical / Health related field
