The Head of Research for Nielsen Sports & Entertainment will be responsible for designing, selling and delivering quantitative and qualitative research projects and tools across all major stakeholders in the MENAP sports and entertainment industry.

Our projects range from understanding all aspects of how sports and entertainment content is consumed through to the value of sponsorship and other marketing investments associated with entertainment properties.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Design, sell and deliver quantitative and qualitative research projects and tools across the MENAP sports and entertainment industry
  • Be an expert in each stage of the end-to-end research process, with full accountability for all aspect of premium quality delivery
  • Contribute to the growth of the MENAP Revenue for Nielsen Sports & Entertainment through research projects and tools
  • Collaborate effectively with the sales and client service teams to identify client opportunities
  • Be a Thought Leader in Sports & Entertainment sponsorship research by providing expertise and input in both internal publications in Nielsen Entertainment and external publications in the industry
  • Provide support for other high value research proposals across global Nielsen Sports & Entertainment teams when required
  • Train and prepare sales collateral for Nielsen Sports & Entertainment sales and client service teams on Nielsen's higher level consumer insight capabilities to enable them to identify opportunities to cross sell these more effectively
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in the delivery of large scale research projects to enhance quality & delivery speed as well as lowering costs
  • Provide expert support to assessing new research capabilities outside of Nielsen
  • Develop relationships with other research institutions which enhance Nielsen Sports & Entertainment's ability to win and deliver projects around the world
  • Bachelor Degree
  • 5-8 years of experience in designing, selling and delivering quantitative custom research projects. Some experience of qualitative research would also be useful
  • Strong questionnaire design skills, and the confidence to manage complex research design where there are multiple internal and client stakeholders
  • Deep experience of data visualization, and outstanding ability in explaining complex things in a simple, accessible way -
  • both verbally and visually

  • Ability to leverage multiple data sources (primary and secondary) to provide superior insights; experience in data science (e.
  • g. fusion projects) will be an advantage

  • Experience in managing syndicated research products
  • Client and commercial mindset, with a proven sales track record in relation to the type of projects described above
  • Proven ability to quickly engender confidence in clients, and to evangelize the power of innovative research techniques in helping them grow their businesses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills, particularly in relation to working in a matrix organization across virtual teams across multiple time zones.
  • Highly effective collaborator, striking a balance between the needs / requirements of client service, business development and own team objectives.
  • Energetic self-starter, who will work with minimal supervision and a great deal of flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and see multiple concurrent projects to a successful conclusion
  • Note : This "Head of Research" role is equivalent to a "Senior Manager" role within our commercial teams
