The role of the Service Engineer is to provide engineering support for Emerson PWS products and services including maintenance services, diagnostics, installation and commissioning, start-up, problem resolution, and project execution.

The Service Engineer is the link between customer needs / constraints and the Emerson Systems and Software Operations teams.

He works within the Lifecycle services organization. Service Engineer is the technical adviser and decision maker for service projects within MEA region

Job Description

Perform as a focal point for customer technical support including service contracts, projects, and technical solutions. Execute preventative maintenance and configuration adjustments to improve product performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsible for execution service activities to ensure the delivery of the results expected by the customer.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance tasks in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to the customer on product or solutions, enhancements, and system health checks.
  • Perform service projects and take ownership for customer co-ordination.
  • Lead the process of providing resolution to technical issues and resolve Customer disruptive events, where appropriate consulting with Emerson CSE (GSC and Product Engineering).
  • Be aware of the latest updates to, and new functionality in, Emerson’s Systems portfolio.
  • Participate in and lead client support activities such as site surveys; Providing solution, studies; troubleshooting / support call resolution;
  • system modifications and training.

  • Provide technical expertise for products and services to support customers and Emerson teams.
  • Provide on-site on-the-job customer instruction in the application, maintenance, and operation of Emerson products.
  • Proactively identify Service / Product opportunities and assist the sales process
  • Proactively promote service, start up and commissioning services and support the sales team as required.
  • Be aware of Emerson’s Plantweb Digital Ecosystem Solutions Portfolio
  • Knowledge about Emerson Ovation cyber security products like Mcafee ePO, Application control, Antivirus etc.
  • Provide technical support to the proposal team for Ovation upgrade / retrofit projects.
  • Provide an assessment of commercial and technical risk associated with potential work.
  • Ensure a good fit between order content and our product / execution capability by guiding scope definition throughout the sales process.
  • Be available as required to support on-call rotations.
  • Comply with all Emerson requirements for business processes including timesheets, site visit reports and all other documentation in line with Emerson internal procedures.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (including control engineering, computer science, Instrumentation or electronics, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Industrial automation systems with Emerson Ovation or similar systems.
  • Experience in Power and Water industry, projects and service execution.
  • Fluent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate level certification for all services the individual is performing at site and a Professional level certificate in at least one field of expertise.
  • Sound knowledge of Emerson, Software products and hardware design engineering
  • Sound knowledge in Ovation network components namely Cisco switches and routers
  • Hands on experience in standard Industrial communication protocols like OPC, Modbus, IEC etc
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of automation and control systems in Power and water industries, typically with 8 years’ experience in related areas.
  • Worked before on project engineering, services, or power plant maintenance
  • Multidiscipline knowledge (Customer side and Emerson full portfolio)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Driver’s License preferred
  • This role is focused on products and services at industrial process plants. Travel and work in customer sites is required, including international travel as needed. Travel 70%
