Hotel Overview : Fairmont The Palm is a luxury, world-classresort located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai. The hotelfeatures 381 guest rooms and suites with dedicated Fairmont Gold rooms andlounge.

A total of seven food and beverage outlets on property offerinternational dining options including Indian and Mediterranean cuisine and aBrazilian churrasco experience.

Fairmont The Palm also features an expansivepool and beach area with a health club, Willow Stream Spa and the FairmontFalcons Juniors’ Club.

Summary ofResponsibilities :

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources, responsibilities andessential job functions include but are not limited to the following :

  • Being an ambassador for the Brand and for the Human Resources Department by offering engaging service to our colleagues, being approachable, friendly and assisting colleagues when needed on a daily basis
  • Promoting the Mission, Values, Brand dimensions, and Service Promises by creating programs that support these and bringing them to life in the hotel.
  • As well as acting as a role model for the Fairmont Values

  • Working together with the Recruitment, Colleague Services, and Government Relations department to ensure that the arrival / onboarding experience for our colleagues is consistently high, and ensuring all colleagues completes the three-
  • day Fairmont and Heartist Orientation

  • Facilitating all Fairmont and other Training Courses which may include but not limited to :
  • Train the Trainer
  • Leadership and Management Skills
  • Franklin Covey Training Programs
  • Brand Trainings
  • Fairmont Leadership Promise
  • Working with leaders and departmental trainers within the hotel to identify training needs & deliver learning solutions
  • Provide ongoing development, guidance and coaching to the departmental trainers, engaging them in their roles
  • Play an active role in supporting the leadership team with the analysis, action planning and monitoring of the colleague engagement survey
  • Designing and organizing training programs (both skill and interest based) for the colleagues / leaders of the hotel based on the needs and requests of the hotel
  • Creating monthly, quarterly and yearly training plans for the entire hotel ensuring consistent and structured delivery which meets the needs of the business
  • Communicate information about training events in a timely and professional manner to ensure the business is kept up to date about learning and development activities
  • Develop and drive the L&D strategy in line with the hotel / Fairmont vision
  • Ensure Learning Needs Analysis is performed annually with departments in order to budget accordingly and develop the following year L&D strategy fulfilling the training needs of the business
  • Evaluating training programs to ensure effectiveness and implementing action plans
  • Managing the appraisal process within the hotel, and tracking the L&D needs of colleagues / leaders to then implement action plans for training based on these
  • Ensuring all Fairmont’s Learning and Development standards, policies and benefits are adhered to and offered to the colleagues :

  • Cross Training program
  • Assisting the HRD in the development and roll-out of SUMMIT program in the hotel. Preparing yearly plan, organizing trainings, events and providing continual support to the SUMMIT Participants.
  • Working with the Security Manager to ensure all Health and Safety training takes place in the hotel.
  • Leads hotel sustainability committee and plan and organizes two monthly events.
  • Driving a culture of recognition in the hotel through the Service Plus committee and Wow Celebration held on a monthly basis
  • Ensuring that the Grooming policy is communicated and adhered to within the hotel
  • Working with the Assistant Director, Human Resources and Manager, Colleague Services to help organize and host colleague events
  • Provide support and input on the facilitation of departmental meetings, focus groups and team building activities when require
  • Ensuring the hotel has all necessary training materials needed and monitoring Inventory
  • Completing reports for Corporate Office as and when needed
  • Creating the Training Budget and managing the budget effectively
  • Keeping up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses, as well as building relationship with regional Fairmont Training Managers
  • Managing and Developing the Training Coordinator
  • Having a strong knowledge of general Human Resources practices and procedures to assist colleagues efficiently and effectively
  • Qualifications :

  • Previous leadership experience in a related field required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • University / College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Previous Hotel experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Previous leadership experience in a related field required
