  • About the role

    Youwill be in the Service Office organisation, there is a team ofSales & Range specialists that each have responsibility forone Business Area.

    In a territory where the Sales & Rangespecialists are highly experienced and skilled, some individualscan take responsibility for more than one Business Area.

    Securingthat the range to be sold in the local market is selected andpriced each business year. To achieve the Sales and Gross Margingoals as set by the Sales manager for your Business Area.

    Key Specific Accountabilities :


  • Together with their colleagues and managers,they contribute actively in the development and implementation of aclear IKEA Sales & Range action plan for the store usingthe store business plan and country business plan.
  • These aresupported by input from Growing IKEA together and the IKEA SalesDirection & Strategy. Develop and execute an annual actionplan for his area based on agreed goals.

  • Stayin weekly contact and support the shopkeepers in thestores
  • Select and ensure availability ofproducts for all the marketing activities in the commercialcalendar, in close partnership with the Logisticsdepartment
  • Support the stores by producingbuying guides for complex product series
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the IKEA rangedistributor regarding all issues related to the range and theannual IKEA range cycle
  • Coordinate all issueswith regard to the IKEA range between the stores and the centralretail management and between the central retail management and theIKEA distributor
  • Maintain in-depth knowledgeof the local home furnishings market (e.g. customers, trends andcompetitors)
  • Ensure that systems and methodsstated in IKEA Concept Documentation are implemented in regard toyour areas of responsibility
  • Set prices on theIKEA range in cooperation with the stores’ sales managersand reinforce the IKEA low-price profile by applying the guidelinesstated in IKEA Concept Documentation
  • Makesales budgets for the IKEA range
  • Set localrange priorities in accordance with the overall range strategyprovided by IKEA of Sweden through the IKEA distributor
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the IKEA rangedistributor regarding all issues related to the range and theannual IKEA range cycle
  • Maintain in-depthknowledge of the local home furnishings market (e.g. customers,trends and competitors)
  • Passionate about theirproducts and actively learn about their content, origins and otherbenefits. Share this knowledge with their colleagues.
  • Ensure to know the top-selling products, 4 Aces and 1King, and that they are available and clearly communicated anddisplayed at all times.
  • To promote alternative products when theseare unavailable.

  • Contribute to the planning,execution and follow-up of the store’s commercialcalendars
  • Follow up and communicate the agreedKPIs within your area of responsibility to the Core Area Managerand to the shopkeepers of the stores
  • Strive toreach the sales targets for your Business Area as defined in thebusiness plan
  • Support the shopkeepers in allstores in your market by collecting and spreading good salessolutions
  • Spur a healthy competitive situationbetween all stores in your market by running different types ofcompetitions each year
  • Operations

  • To ensure that systems and methods stated inIKEA Concept Documentation are implemented in the Sales and Rangeof all stores
  • Be the matrix manager for theshopkeepers in all stores for your business area and together withthem, you drive the annual plan for Sales & Range in thisBusiness Area
  • Define the range in your salesarea of Showroom and Markethall to be sold by all stores andtogether with shopkeepers you drive the process of selecting thesuppliers and managing all the contracts in order to achieveeconomies of scale in the purchasing by generating largevolumes
  • Enhance the competitive strength ofthe IKEA product range by ensuring the implementation of all rangeissues related to systems and methods stated in IKEA ConceptDocumentation and by keeping yourself updated about the localmarket conditions
  • Strive to reach the IKEApositioning objectives
  • To steer theperformance in your area operations towards maximized sales andoptimized long-term profit by :
  • Applying salesmethods in accordance with the Sales and Range the IKEA waymanual
  • Stay in contact with IKEA of Sweden andthe distributor to select, price, phase in and phase out the rangefor your market
  • Perform all rangeadministration in the sales IT-system for products belonging toyour Business Area
  • Work closely with theLogistics team to secure that the sales forecasts are adapted tothe sales patterns in order to achieve an optimal goodsflow
  • Choose products of the IKEA Extra rangein accordance with the Choosing from the IKEA product rangemanual
  • Set prices on the IKEA range and youwork closely with the shopkeepers in the stores to continuouslytrack competitors’ price levels in order to secure theIKEA low-price leadership.
  • In this work, you use systems andmethods described in the IKEA genuinely low prices manual andSetting prices the IKEA way manual

  • Make salesbudgets for the IKEA range in your Business Area
  • Define the Local range in your sales area of Showroom andMarkethall to be sold by all stores and drive the process ofselecting the suppliers and managing all the contracts in order toachieve economies of scale in the purchasing by generating largevolumes
  • Co-ordinate with the catalogueproduction team within Marketing to complete the different textblocks, by timely inputs regarding pricing details and strategicproduct placements including timely inputs regarding the pricingdetails and strategic product placement
  • People

  • Support the storeshopkeepers to regularly conduct competitor analysis on the localmarkets. You take appropriate actions based on theresults
  • Committed to the development of Salesteam and secure their training to ensure all co-workers understandthe IKEA Concept and other key guidelines, and how they have animpact on their specific roles.
  • Empower,support and coach Sales co-workers on the job to help them performbetter and grow.
  • Work actively to create anenvironment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality,and diversity is valued, to ensure the IKEA store is regarded as agreat place to work.
  • Ensure we have a simpleand straightforward internal communication and information flow,and secure that key information is understood by all IKEA Salesco-workers.
