Aboutthe Job :

An exciting opportunity has arisen for atalented Sous Chef to join the Culinary team at the Burj Al Arab. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth operation of the department incharge by optimizing the use of all kitchen materials and manpower, therebymaximizing revenue and guest satisfaction and expectation.

Your key duties will include :

  • Ensuring proper daily preparation of menu items withthe kitchen stations to exceed guest satisfaction and expectation.
  • Instructing on the correct usage of Kitchen equipmentand machinery and to check that this iscarried out in the correct manner by all Kitchen employees as set out by theHealth & Safety regulations and correct the usage if necessary.
  • Being able to complete material checklist e.g.mise-en-place within own department for all sections.
  • Checking on daily each section in own department toensure work has been carried out in the proper manner.
  • Planning rosters on a 2 weekly basis and to review ona daily basis with the Executive Chef / Executive Sous-Chef, overtime, rostersand holiday requirements and absenteeism.
  • About You :

    Inorder to be considered for this role, you will have gained secondary school / university and or management certificate program.

    You will have at least 2 years' experience as Sous Chef in a 5 star hotel.

    Thisis a very "hands on" anddemanding position so it is paramount that you work well in a team but are alsoable to set standards and lead by example at all times.

    You must be comfortable working underpressure.

    Youwill have strong written and verbal English skills as well as a good workingknowledge of Microsoft Office as strong communication skills are required.
