Job Description : About the Opportunity
The Office of Economic Analysis unit operates under the Chief Operating Office (COO), within the Department of Administrative Services (DAS).
This unit consists of the State Economist, Senior Demographic Analyst, Senior Corrections Forecast Analyst, Senior Economist and Administrative Assistant.
The office works at the highest levels of State Government in planning and policy development and authoritatively represents the Governor’s office and Executive branch of Government internally, to special interest groups, the public, media, and the legislature.
The Governor and the Legislature rely on the forecasts and work products of the office to determine what resources will be available to the state for budgetary purposes and to determine budget current service levels.
The Economist Role & Responsibilities
The Economist provides analytical support and related economic information to the Office of Economic Analysis State Economist and staff.
The Economist is responsible for data collection, analysis and research that assists and supports the forecasting process for the quarterly Oregon Economic and Revenue Forecast.
The primary duties and responsibilities include :
Choose data sources and methods for assisting during the forecasting process, including preparing statistical estimates
Research and develop alternative forecasting techniques
