Job Purpose

  • Thisposition is responsible for all aspects of recovery performance for the entirecharged off card portfolio irrespective of it being from the Good Bank or theSAU Bank.
  • The roleentails balancing risk of collection while providing high levels of service togrow a profitable portfolio.
  • Theincumbent provides leadership to front line staff that includes RecoveryManagers agency channel and Team Leaders who are part of recoveries.
  • Key Result Areas :

  • Ensure theachievement of key financial results in a complex market environment withdeveloping collection / legal infrastructure.
  • Hasresponsibility for maintaining high levels of employee satisfaction forcollections and recovery staff.
  • Ensureexcellent relationships with lawyer’s / collection agencies / law enforcementagencies supporting collection activities to leverage these towards achievingbest returns.
  • Ensurerelationships with key collection agencies are developed to both deepen andimprove the partnership and is seen by improvement in overall recoveries.
  • Coordinateslegal actions ensures timeliness of legal actioning to maximizerecoveries. Drives effective executionof legal strategies by leveraging relationships with lawyers and lawenforcement agencies.
  • Isresponsible for ensuring effective collections within budgeted costs.
  • Developsrelationships in competition / marketplace to maximize opportunities ofimplementing best practices that work for other people in different markets.
  • Ensures thatemployees and external collection agencies are appropriately trained to achieverisk results while maintaining a balance with customer needs and without anydilution to the brand promise of the Mashreqbank.
  • Engage withothers to enhance and improve the quality level of data collected to enhanceunit’s ability to maximize recoveries.
  • Work withrest of credit center to incorporate insights from collections and recoveryprocesses into enhanced underwriting standards.
  • Assistmarketing / credit team in developing customer knowledge based insights and amarketing program that will effectively leverage the bank’s capabilities tomost profitably pursue opportunities
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 8-10 yearsof collections experience and ideally should have managed a collection or arecovery team of at least 10 FTE
  • Strongpeople leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Product andprocess knowledge unsecured and secured lending products.
  • Knowledge ofmultiple systems
  • Strongnegotiating skills
  • Strongthrough leadership and analytical skills ability to understand trends inportfolio performance and develop proactive response strategies.
  • Ability toeffectively manage external collection agencies and drive appropriate levels ofperformance.
  • Knowledge ofthe legal and regulatory environment.
  • Strongknowledge of bank’s operations, sales and support environments, superiorcustomer focus.
  • Goodmotivator, attentive to detail, exceptional team leader, cool under pressure,responsive to customer needs.
  • Developstrong relationships with different agencies in the country.
  • Banking experience incorporating collections,credit analysis, underwriting and leadership responsibilities
