Job Role : INDUSTRIAL HYGIENEOFFICER
Provides necessary technical advice on Industrial Hygieneand Occupational Health (OH) aspects affecting employees at RuwaisPlant.
Prepares and establishes necessary systems and procedures todemonstrate compliance with Local legislation, COMPANY COP, andCompany Standards and Policy.
Conducts Occupational Hygienesurveys, impact assessment, sets monitoring programs and recommendsnecessary actions to comply with established legislation / regulations.
Coordinates with Company Departments and Liaises withvarious approved medical facilities in determining OccupationalHealth cases and issues.
Maintains record of all OccupationalHealth incidents, cases and follow up programs. MonitorsOccupational Health parameters against targets and allowable limitsand brings to the notice of management for actions withrecommendations.
Providesassistance to different departments in setting and implementingoccupational hygiene objectives and work plans prioritizedaccording to identified risks associated with various industrialoperations of COMPANY.
Analyses the collecteddata to review occupational environment periodically to identifyprevailing health hazards, personnel at risk based on jobclassification and task analysis and the type and extend ofmeasurements required.
Conducts or coordinatesenvironmental testing and measurement of work environment toevaluate identified sources of airborne chemical contaminants, andbiological agents considered hazardous to health (Silica, Asbestos,Lead, Mercury etc.
and of physical agents including noise, heat,light radiation etc., using a wide range of direct reading andstatic / personal sampling instruments.
Determines exposure ofpersonnel to airborne chemical contaminants and biological andphysical agents and identifies area where further investigationsare needed.
Conducts testing and measurementsto determine major sources of airborne contaminants such as dust,Carbon Monoxide, Asbestos, Hydrogen Sulphide, Mercury, Lead,Silica, Sulphur Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, and other substanceshazardous to health.
Reviews exposure in relations to diseases,absence from work due to sickness and investigation of requiredPPE.
Maintains updated record of personnelsick leaves and personnel occupational health matters. Liaise withall departments and Ruwais Area Medical Services.
Advises RuwaisPersonnel Administration on sick leaves and occupational healthmatters.
Maintains occupational healthmonitoring equipment inventory, calibration andmaintenance.
Coordinates with Hospital staffassessment of employee exposure to potential risk and damage causedby working environment.
Supervises or personally performs necessaryfield and laboratory tests for hazards identification and riskcontrol and provides interpretation of data.
Evaluates theperformance of equipment and engineering control measure adopted atvarious operations to reduce exposure to hazardous substances andharmful agents.
Ensures proper loss prevention measures are inplace to minimize employee exposure and provide requiredprotection.
Participates and prepares detailedreports on exposure to physical, biological and chemical agents andthe performance of the methods of control and presents tomanagement to keep them fully advised on the technical issues ofoccupational health, deviation from optimum conditions, existingand potential risks and any untoward consequences thereof.
Includesevaluating / participating in recommendations for engineering controlmethods. Identifies and advises on ergonomics of workplace.
Assists in identifying and recommendspersonal protection and operational technical methods for controlsof chemical, physical, mechanical and biological agents, which arehazardous to health in the various operations.
Provides sufficientdetails on such substances and recommends, where practicablealternative non-hazardous materials to meet operationalrequirements.
Inspects / surveys companybuildings, plants, field operations and other premises in order toidentify health hazards. Prepares inspections reports andrecommends appropriate actions.
Participatesin Health, Safety and Environmental studies for new projects toHealth Hazards Evaluation. Advises on on-site / off-siterequirements.
Provides advice and reviews as requested Contractorcompliances with relevant HSE guidelines.
Prepares, conducts and assures implementation of periodiceducational programs with a view to promoting employees awarenessof the health hazards and effects specific to the concernedoperations.
Performs other similar or relatedduties as assigned such as maintaining records, files andstatistics related to the field.
ReviewsCOMPANY COPs related to Occupational Health, prepares complianceprogram, implements programs in the company and monitors forcompliance.

Exposurelimits for main hazards in fertilizerplant
Knowledgeon statistical analysis of data.
Having certificate on CharteredOccupational Hygienist, Certified Occupational Hygienist orCertified Industrial Hygienist.
GraduateDegree or Diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health (i.e,CIH, MIOH, MIOSH, PE, QEP).
6 (six)years’ experience in industrial hygiene, environmentalhealth or closely related field in Petrochemical Industry ingeneral and Fertilizer industry in particular.
Good spoken and written English.
Must have good computer skills and working knowledge ofMS Office.
UAE Driving licensepreferred.
