Job summary

Amazon is currently seeking a Principal, Business Development for Middle East and Africa (MEA) to manage our consumer subscriptions business through large-scale strategic partnerships in the region.

In particular, this role will focus on leading complex new business development across the Middle East and Africa to build a channel for the distribution of Amazon services through mobile operators and media companies.

Managing this exciting and fast-growing portion of the Amazon business will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to fulfill the Amazon motto to Work Hard, have Fun, and make History.

As the Principal, BD, for Middle East and Africa your responsibilities will include the following :

  • Working with internal stakeholder businesses to define and execute a high impact strategy and plan for country and regional specific business development opportunities for Telecom and Media distribution companies.
  • Lead all partner activity to source and negotiate complex partnership agreements, from first contact through to signed contracts in agreed geographies and segments.
  • Lead all internal approvals and due diligence including strategic planning and document writing to ensure execution meet the needs of all stakeholders and is aligned with the business objectives.
  • Coordinate and align with relevant Amazon internal teams to leverage established relationships, present a unified vision to our partners in MEA and close partnerships that add significant value to the business overall.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    Strong, extensive experience leading end to end, complex, time sensitive strategic BD negotiations in a media, telco or other relevant environment.

    Strong experience managing partners at all stages of the funnel; creation / identification of opportunity, term sheet, contracts, closure, launch and managing and growing the partnership post deal launch.

    Strong communication, persuasion and advocacy skills.

    Ability to think, analyze, and react in a high energy, fast paced environment.

    Proven business judgement and influencing skills.

    Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management and meeting deadlines.

    A clear and concise communicator and writer.

    Extensive knowledge and experience of the Middle East and Africa Telco and Media marketplace

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Deep experience of working on complex entertainment distribution deals in the media / telco / other relevant sector.

    Solid understanding of the entertainment marketplace and a passion for content.

    MBA from a top tier programme.

    Strong track record of building and maintaining a network of relationships to help navigate complex situations and foster long term opportunities.

    Strong proven ability to deal with ambiguity.

    Strong business judgement.

    Passion for big challenges, adaptable and a desire to continuously learn and grow.

    Excellent strategic document writing skills.
