The Divisional Manager - Scaffolding is the overall in charge of the Scaffolding division within Al Futtaim Engineering.

The incumbent will be responsible to deliver high quality support to customers’ business needs in a safe working environment.

Strategic business development with a focus on leading and managing an efficient and profitable Scaffolding Division. Project and process management of all Scaffolding Services including Service & Quality management.

Ensuring effective product development, billing, invoice control, and performance management of key employees. Commitment to nationalization within the business.

Ability to operate on both strategic and operational levels.

Business Development

  • Maintain and develop strong relationship with existing clients.
  • Collaborate with Al Futtaim Engineering’s Senior Management for business development of new clients or current Al Futtaim Engineering clients.
  • Actively participate in the tendering process by both selecting the tenders and sharing available expertise and intelligence for the success of the bidding process.
  • Staff Management

  • Evaluate the existing staff members and optimize it to ensure efficient utilization of resources to deliver objectives.
  • Responsible for the management of timely direct reports, communicate progress, including coaching and mentoring of staff so they continually improve performance and achieve their potential.
  • Ensure that all members of the scaffolding team have up to date job descriptions and that effective use is made of the performance management system including setting of goals and objectives and carrying out regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure that all health and safety obligations and complied with by scaffolding staff and independent contractors.
  • Financial Management

  • Responsibility for financial management of the scaffolding annual operating budget including compliance with financial delegations;
  • Manage major and minor projects including management of budgets so that projects are delivered within budget and provide management with early warning of any potential budget overruns so that risk can be managed and mitigated.
  • Manage and oversee the financial and operational performance of the scaffolding unit.
  • Scope & Execution

  • Oversee the development of all policies and procedures related to the scaffolding unit and oversee proper coordination to ensure alignment with local, regional and international standards and practices.
  • Act as the custodian of all Organizations project falls under scaffolding unit by ensuring high quality delivery on time within budget and reviewing projects’ high-

    level deliverables and milestones for critical decision-making.

  • Appoint competent staff to deliver the strategic objectives of the unit.
  • Oversee and ensure availability of manpower resources to execute current contracts and new contracts.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources-including labor, equipment and material procurement and other related activities to ensure the ability of teams to deliver the projects within schedule and budget, in coordination with the related operational units and proper utilization of materials.
  • Choose the most suitable subcontractor, manage and lead throughout the duration of the project with a view of cost saving and increasing of profit margins.
  • Liaise with the finance unit for project funding and ensure effective cash flow management for the projects.
  • Review Contract Documents, making suggestions / modification as they relate to the scaffolding trades.
  • Monitor the installation and start-up of scaffolding systems and commissioning of project with Project Manager, Engineer and owner.
  • The Divisional Manager - Scaffolding will report to the Managing Director, however, channels exists for direct communication with the CEO and other members from the senior leadership team at weekly meetings or as and when required.

    To be a successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 15+ years relevant experience in the contracting environment, of which a minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership / head of business role.

    Strong knowledge & track record in strategic business development & transformation, consultancy & operations, contract negotiation & contract drafting, service provider management (SLA / KPI driven contracts), develop and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, budgeting and forecasting.

    Proven track record of excellence in blue-chip companies / group of companies. Leading teams and enhancing business presence in high growth region of the Middle East.

    Outstanding P&L management track record. Project and process management of all scaffolding services including service & quality management.

    The Divisional Manager - Scaffolding will have to demonstrate excellent leadership & entrepreneurial qualities, be customer focused and be able to handle multiple and often conflicting priorities.

    It is essential the incumbent should have excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment.

    Have the ability to look at situations from several points of view. Delegate responsibilities effectively. Excellent problem analytical skills and problem simulation.

    Should have a high comfort level working in a diverse environment. Open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.

    Manage cross-functional relationships effectively. Strong verbal and writing skills, with regards to contractual communication.

    Strong people Manager with a collaborative style (inclusive, engaging, energizing). Excellent managerial & administrative skills however at the same time hands on with day to day business operations.

    Detail oriented and good reporting skills. Establish clear lines of communication both internally & externally. Strong commercial expertise in driving business results.
