Role Summary

As Credit Manager, you will control respect and execution of the organization’s credit policies so that an acceptable level of risk is maintained, repayments are made on time, losses are kept to a minimum, and arrears are economically collected.

As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential customers, creating credit scoring models, negotiating payment terms and proposing & implementing optimal financial instruments to reduce cash collection risk.

As a Credit Manager you will be responsible for updating and maintaining the company’s credit policy.

To ensure success as a Credit Manager, you should have extensive experience with credit analysis, proficiency with accounting software, and high-level analytical skills.

A top-class Credit Manager adds value to a company by optimizing the mix of sales to bad debt losses.

Main responsibilities

  • Reject or authorize applications in accordance with company standards and establish appropriate repayment terms to minimize the organization’s credit risk.
  • Manage the organization’s most complex, large, or difficult credit accounts to maintain positive customer relations and minimize debts outstanding.
  • Monitor the status of credit and collection activities to identified problem areas and adapt procedures to improve the overall performance of the team.
  • Secure all necessary procedures required to execute successfully LCs and SBLCs
  • Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in sales or customer service) to ensure that credit and collection activities are consistent with the organization’s overall customer relations strategy.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of credit and collections staff to ensure that the credit and collections activities are conducted effectively and ethically and comply with the organization’s policies and standards as well as relevant regulations and laws.
  • Key Activities

  • Analyze revenues, liabilities, credit conditions and other financial indicators to forecast it’s short, medium and long-term cash flow position
  • Evaluate and recommend investments, funding sources and other financial instruments that will meet these cash flow needs.
  • Advise senior management on financial matters, on the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations, and on the operation of the organization.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on financial risks and opportunities to functional or operational area managers to support them to develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports and manage their financial responsibilities.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the team to ensure that all the financial activities are conducted accurately, ethically, consistently and accordingly to relevant regulations, laws and standards.
  • Collaboration and relationship building with stakeholders across all regions. Specific focus on building and maintaining relationship and dialogue with headquarters in Brussels and Bridgestone Japan.
  • Oversight of credit control, cash flow, investment management, tax, insurance, treasury, internal audit, budgeting and forecasting, and foreign exchange.
  • Requirements for the role

  • Min 7 years of previous experience as Credit manager or related experience
  • Strong financial and business analysis skills
  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices
  • Experience in trade finance and extensive knowledge of financial instruments such as LC, SBLC, BG, CI
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
  • Dynamic professional with strong communication skills
  • Leadership with good interpersonal & influencing skills
  • The ability to successfully carry out multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Fluent in English
