Carries out non-destructive testing of equipment and piping both on steam and off-steam, using necessary NDT equipment. Maintains dark room in good order and inspection instruments and tools in proper working condition.
Carries out routing non-destructive testing on piping and equipment according to established schedules, as well as emergency testing on specific pipes and equipment.
Records results of tests and passes to Supervisor for interpretation.
Carries out daily thickness measurement and survey on piping an equipment using ultrasonic detectors and performs other survey on piping, and reports findings to supervisor for interpretations.
Carries out radiography on welds, and ultrasonic flaw testing of welds. Performs hardness tests where required.
Changes radiation source (lridium 192) when required and arranges dispatch of used sources to supplier for recharging. Exercises particular care to avoid radiation.
Develops films for interpretation by supervisor. Maintains dark room as well as inspection and testing tools and instruments in clean and operational condition, and maintains relevant records.
Performs other ND test like dye penetrant checks, magnetic particle testing, and alloy analysis for identification of metals etc.
Carries out thermographic inspection on furnace tubes as well as other equipment.Also operates magnetic flux leakage type of equipment for inspection of tubes, as required by superiors.
Performs other similar or related duties, as assigned, such as marinating proper records for all the NDT jobs carried out, and observing all safety and fire rules and regulations.
Completion of Technical Secondary education, including 2 years certified course in NDT (ASNT level ll qualification preferred).
8 years’ experience in non-destructive testing work in a petroleum / chemical plant.
Speaking and Writing Fair knowledge of English.
