As part of the curriculum and guidance provision andto compliment and inform our variety of personalised curriculum pathways, ThisCareers and Higher Education policy has been developed on order to encourageour students :

  • To become familiar with the variety of optionsavailable to them post 16.
  • To support them in their chosen CHE route andguide them through the application process.
  • To provide contacts and resources to inform thedecision making process.
  • To become members of an Alumni.
  • Byfostering and supporting our students through our teaching and learning, itwill help establish the required skills and behaviour for students to understandthe requirements of the world of work and Higher Education.

    Good guidance andadvice will be delivered throughout the whole school, by all staff.

    Studentshave the opportunity to access subject specific career related provision in avariety of Secondary subjects once per year.

    Inaddition Grade 10 students have a period of 1-week work experience and anoptional second during the April holidays.

    Grade12 students have a 1 week period where they are encouraged to take a career specificroute of experience, where this is not the case, 1 week of work experience thatis relevant to a region specific area is taken

    Aswe offer a variety of curricula, we provide specific advice and guidancethroughout the process for applicants to UAE, US, UK and European universities.

    We use a variety of systems and sources to support this.

    Applicantsare advised of specific places of help for their chosen pathway to university,predominantly through the Careers and College expert and the vast array ofInternational Higher Education institutes that are prevalent here in the UAE.

    Studentsare encouraged to attend any College or Career related Independent workshops,these include :

  • Writing the Common Application essay and the American Education EXPO.
  • Completion of any offers of psychometric testing.
  • University exhibitions.
  • Local University visits.
  • Studentshave access to a large number of tutors for individualised guidance.

  • Grade 8 Tutor based guidance begins
  • Grade 10 Specific Tutor, Director and Subject leader guidance for options post-16
  • Suitability is assessed through Director, Director of Post 16 and relevant coordinator interviews.
  • Grade 13 Students are given process information for the complete university options process and support through the extensive network of non-
  • UK university application systems and processes that happen externally in the UAE.
