Specific responsibilities :
Managing a patient care unit foradministrative and clinical aspects to include organizing,developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost-effectivequality patient care.
Ensure that patient careis delivered in accordance with established hospital-wide policiesand procedures and nursing standards.
Delegateresponsibilities appropriate to the scope of practice,qualification, and training of the staff.
Provides education to staff based on theoretical andclinical experience.
Evaluate nursingpersonnel performance based on the organization'sobjectives, professional practice, standards, relevant statistics,and regulation criteria.
Ensure clinicalresources and continuity of patient care.
Supports the development of clinical pathways andclinical practice guidelines through utilization data and analysiswithin the clinical unit.
Organize and ensuresthe implementation of the department's policies andprocedures.
Regularly reports, as required, onthe KPIs that are to be reported upon regarding the activities inthe Department.
Establishes and maintains aneffective working relationship and ongoing communications withmedical staff and other department heads.
Ensures the Department / Clinical Unit Manager isinformed of and aware of significant events and activities in thearea(s) of responsibility.
Performs otherprofessional duties as may be assigned within his / her scope andability.
Responsible for making resourcing,staffing, bed management decisions. Oversight for patient care and1st level staffing decisions by those directly in charge of ashift.
Responsible for the efficient use of equipment and suppliesfor the unit. Responsible for working collaboratively with othersto solve problems, provide care and improve the provision ofpatient care.
Responsible for collection, collation, andimprovements of key performance indicators for the unit.
