Job Key Details Conduct field and laboratory investigations, surveys and analyses to detect and categorize insects and related invertebrates.
Oversee and assess special insect pest eradication programs Manage the collection of insect specimens from fields, orchards, vineyards or other agricultural areas.
Oversee insect identification trapping programs and staff Support staff in the inspection of plants, orchards, field crops and nurseries for the presence of destructive pests.
Handle clients and business development tasks Present information and assistance to staff, other agencies and the public regarding insect pest control, insect taxonomy, present and potential damage to crops and other similar issues Manage multiple work assignments, set priorities and meet established deadlines Create and maintain insect collections and an entomology reference library and participate in in-service education programs.
Job Qualifications and Experience Bachelors Degree in Entomology or any related field Demonstrated experience in the same role required The applicant must have passed examinations with the Municipality, Health Department in Familiarity with practices, policies and procedures Knowledge of insect taxonomy and insects controlled by state and federal regulations Candidates on visa are required to apply Should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels Should display and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, accountability and good judgment.
