Job DescriptionRequisition Title : Safety Specialist - FC07 (ALT557)Organization : QHSEDescription : Applications are invited for the position of Safety Specialist - Health & Safety UAE National OnlyKey AccountabilitiesØLiaises with the Workplace Safety Manager and Head of Safety on safety performance issues to align with targetsØFacilitates the implementation of EKFC's safety management system and regularly monitors the effectiveness within businesses.
Plans safety campaigns based on safety performance analyses and emerging trends.ØInspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government safety standards and regulations.
Plans and prepares for internal Safety self-assessments and audits against the EKFC SMS and external auditsØProactively collaborates with businesses to develop safety improvement plans to meet EKFC Safety targets and provides technical assistance and support in investigating accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future.
ØDelivers safety induction and briefings to contractors / visitors in line with company policy and conducts internal safety training in collaboration with the Learning and Development department.
Develops and delivers Tool Box Talk and Cascade topics related to the business and operational needsØDesigns and implements workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
Conducts inspections and audits to identify hazards and risks in operational activities and coaches supervisors and line managers with respect to corrective and preventative measures.
Facilitates the development of intervention plans for underperforming businesses to realign with EKFC Safety requirements and performance targetsØCoordinates fire evacuation drills and monitors the condition of the fire emergency equipmentØGuides Safety Assistants in their professional and operational development.
ØEffectively liaises with external bodies including the local enforcement authority, airport authorities, safety auditors, insurance auditors, airline officials etc.
ØGenerates on time safety performance reports for the businesses highlighting trends and safety hot spots.Essential Requirements and CompetenciesØTertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or similar.
ØMinimum5 years of experience in the relevant fieldØProven record of accomplishment in monitoring effective safety systems.
ØPrevious experience in conducting safety inspections and auditsØKnowledge of the UAE Occupational Health and Safety legislation is an advantage.
ØKnowledge of the UAE Fire code is an advantage.ØExperience within a catering, manufacturing, logistics or construction industry Knowledge and work experience in OHSAS18001 : 2007 Standard.
