Job Role : Director, UnderwritingServices

MainDuties

  • Set directivesfor the department in developing and enabling implementation of newstrategies, processes and concepts to further improveDaman'
  • s competitive advantage

  • Accountable for a result-oriented management overlookingand considering cross-departmental performance / results
  • Manage and develop people and resources includingprovision of a strong leadership presence
  • Steer the department expenditure and requirements,keeping in mind its impact and utilisation on the financialbudget
  • Foster organisational culture byestablishing quality awareness and service orientation and obeyingconsistent implementation of processes such as Project Managementand Change Management throughout the responsibledepartments
  • Lead and influence thedevelopment, implementation of policies and procedures and enableits adherence
  • Promote and support therecruitment and development UAE nationals to significantlycontribute to Daman's strategic goals
  • Support in execution of relevant market analysis forproduct development at a higher level
  • Monitorthe performance of an allocated portfolio segment, analyse andcommunicate to Sales and higher management any abnormal trends withtechnical explanation and possible suggestions that would need tobe conveyed to customers and / or be implemented to control thesame
  • Negotiate with reinsurers, if any,through technically-oriented deliberations for better reinsurancerates whilst maximising profitability for the company
  • Monitor and achieve positive technical result and targetDaman loading
  • Responsible to present variousUnderwriting analysis reports and management information reports tohigher management and Board of Directors
  • Work ExperienceRequired :

  • Minimum 10years of healthcare / insurance experience; minimum 7 years of whichmust be at the management level
  • Education :

  • Bachelor degree in any field;
  • Medical and Masters' degree in Healthcare,Insurance, Health Economics or Business Management is aplus
  • ACII, ALMI, FLMI or any other equivalentinsurance certification
  • Skills

  • Deep knowledge and experience in utilising and developingtools, concepts and strategies that leverage new businessopportunities with strong business understanding andbackground
  • Energetic, entrepreneurial,self-starter and capable of self-direction
  • Strategic thinking with strong focus on results and highquality of work and able to "think out of thebox"
  • Very good leadership skillsincluding people management, selection and developmentskills
  • Continuously acquire and refreshfunctional knowledge, skills and competencies
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;knowledge of Arabic language is an added advantage
  • Excellent analytical, planning, forecasting, executionand problem solving skills
  • Highly flexible andable to work under pressure
  • Continuouslypromote trust and confidentiality
  • Strong levelof customer service orientation and professionalism in allinteractions
  • Excellent communication,negotiation and presentation skills
  • Deepknowledge of health insurance concepts
  • Goodknowledge of Microsoft application
  • Experiencedin managing a multi-cultural environment and promote teamwork andknowledge sharing in order to achieve goals anddeliverables
