The Cost Controller oversees all tasks related to the review, conformity and optimization of the cost and revenue taking place in Middle East Africa.
Scope of responsibility requires the Cost Controller to have a strong sense of organization, planning and flexibility. All work is to be performed in constant collaboration with Regional Cost Control management, as well as Agency within the scope, SSC and HO Cost Control
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PROCURE-TO-PAY SUPPORT & CONTROL : Be responsible for the second level of control and OPEX conformity. The P2P, or Procure to Pay, cycle is focused on the Supplier processing (Invoicing till payment) activities.
The Cost Control Function ensure the authenticity of Trade Invoices (in scope) before they are paid. Also, includes the accounting key validation of the Trade Invoices registered in the system.
This is critical to the P2P process as this works as the check point to safeguard incorrect payments made to suppliers.
Keying rates in the Group system allowing cost estimations, controls and availability.
Optimization and deployment of the automated tools of control in collaboration with MEA Agencies and Shared service centers.
Monitor SSC controls as well as Agencies rejected invoice levels.
Assess spot controls when automation is not available.
Conduct suppliers or Agency cost and revenue recoveries when necessary. Raise and follow business claims with service providers
Monitor Special Agreements / Rebates and request settlement from vendors
Support P2P digital solutions deployment with the suppliers
AGENCY COST REVIEWS
Send Agency Cost Reports to GM / CFOs / Cost Control managers of all Agencies located in Middle East Africa.
Review in collaboration with Agencies, the main cost deviations impacting Carriers’ Operational expenditures
Identify main reasons of those costs deviations and propose, in collaboration with Agency / RO / HO stakeholders, potential solutions / action plans to generate additional revenue or cost savings.
Follow up with Agents deployment of new initiatives, as well as financial achievements.
Present the main initiatives launched during the last few months, including financial impact
Lead regional studies in collaborations with other ARO departments (Logistics, Operations, Procurement, Feeder, etc.) to constantly work on challenging and improving CMA GROUP strategy in Middle East Africa
OPEX & LOCAL REVENUES INITIATIVES FOLLOW UP
Launch bi annually revenue benchmarks per country
Follow up on monthly basis, and in collaboration with each Agency, the achievements of the Cost & Revenue initiatives
Make sure that achievements are in line with yearly targets communicated by all HO / RO departments
If needed, liaise with owners of the initiatives to review details of the action
In case of major discrepancy between targets & achievements, dig out the issue and see if any adjustments could be performed to achieve savings
At least 1 to 3 years’ experience in shipping industry, with preferably 1-year experience in Operations and / or Finance departments
Self-driven and independent
Detailed oriented and good with numbers
English both written and spoken.
Strong knowledge of Excel and PPT. Qlik skills is a plus
Mobile. Several Business trips, mostly in Middle East Africa, to be considered.
