This position will be based in Dubai, UAE, and report to the HBT Global General Counsel covering legal matters relating to Honeywell’s Building Technologies business segment (HBT) in the META Region.
Your primary client will be the HBT Vice President & General Manager for the META Region, and in this role you will manage a team of two to three regional legal and contract professionals.
The META region generates approximately $500 million in annual revenue for HBT, growing at a rate well in excess of 10% per year, and provides products and solutions related to sustainability, safety, security and efficiency of buildings and infrastructure assets.
We work in several verticals such as Airports, Hospitals, Smart Cities, Data Centers and Commercial Buildings. Our diverse technologies and brands enable us to create sustainable and holistic software, hardware and service solutions improving virtually every aspect of a building’s environment and experience.
Assistant General Counsel Responsibilities : Serve as the first point of contact in the META region for HBT’s VP GM for META (also located in Dubai) and, working with the other members of the Honeywell Law Department, deliver legal services in a timely and effective manner across the region.
You will also work closely with HBT’s Global Vice President & General Counsel, based in Atlanta, USA, to coordinate legal strategies and ensure general alignment with HBT’s global practices and business interests.
Advise on all legal and regulatory issues for HBT’s business in the META region, including those relating to commercial and contract law, environmental, health and safety, intellectual property, leasing, licensing, corporate compliance, foreign investment, labor & employment, M&A, product liability, anti-competition, etc.
Oversee the local HBT contract review and management function. Draft, negotiate, and manage legal documentation for a broad range of commercial transactions (including supply and sales agreements).
Manage litigation for and against the HBT business and direct dispute resolution efforts, including the management of external counsel for referred matters in META.
Oversee the integrity and compliance program for HBT in META, including internal investigations in coordination with the Honeywell Integrity & Compliance team.
Analyze and assess the risks and benefits of matters of strategic importance to the business in META, such as the completion of alliances, acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, joint ventures and the creation of new manufacturing sites and legal entities (including engagement with regulators).
Conduct preventive law training on a wide variety of topics, including competition law, export regulations, data privacy, contracting excellence, protection of intellectual property, anticorruption laws and workplace issues.
Develop standardized processes and templates to efficiently deliver legal services in the region and in support of the Honeywell and HBT Law Department initiatives.
Serve as a key part of the META Region’s Leadership Team, providing support and guidance in an ongoing basis to all business leaders.
Qualifications : At least 10 years of experience as a licensed attorney working at a major law firm and / or multinational company in a senior legal capacity advising on transactional, governance, compliance and / or litigation mattersExperience in negotiating construction and project contracts, as well as customary financing terms relating to same, and related dispute resolutionExperience in managing the legal aspects of product distribution and channel relationships in the RegionExperience in managing a legal staffStrong multinational business transactional experience, including business acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures as well as commercial agreementsExperience in conflict resolution at the pre- and litigation stages of dispute resolutionDemonstrated intellectual capacity and high personal standards of excellence, including integrity and good judgmentPersonal presence, communication skills and credibility necessary to effectively interact with and influence senior management and directorsAbility to work independently and aggressively drive key initiatives at a distance from direct supervisor
