The site nurse is responsible for overseeing medical issues at the site. The position is both administrative and clinical.
making referrals and acting as a liaison to nearby clinics, physician’s offices, and / or hospitals. At most residential sites, the site nurse receives assistance from one or more health assistants with the day-to-day operations of the health office.
Health assistants may assist with the responsibilities of record-keeping and clerical duties, communicating with parents, providing basic first aid for minor student injuries and illnesses, and the distribution of medication.
Degree in nursing RN or APRN strongly preferred Licensure or certification in school nursing (NCSN) Ability to train staff on health issues Ability to work well with children Ability to work as a member of a team Excellent interpersonal communication skills General computer literacy and ability to use a database for record-keeping Experience in a residential or camp setting
