class infrastructure. POSITION OVERVIEW : Completes a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applyingengineering techniques and analyses within the Storm Water Drainage Design discipline.
The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in theutilization of most engineering theories and practices.
All assignmentsinvolve CAE (computer aided engineering) / CAD (computer aided design)applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs complexengineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently andaccurately.
Extracts engineeringinformation from CAD drawings.
Prepares engineeringcomputations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
Completes a variety ofassignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable forprocurement and construction purposes.
Frequently interfaces with otherEngineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Prepares detailedrequisitions for equipment and materials.
Reviews supplier drawingsubmittals and performs technical bid analyses.
Checks orthographic (2D)and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others. May provide direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring themathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.
Prepares and issuesspecifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provides technicalguidance including training to CAD Designer / Drafters, Designers, and lower-levelEngineers working on the same project.
Shall carryout technicaldesign reviews, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes,regulations, and ordinances.
Collaborates withEngineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.
Performsinterdisciplinary reviews and provides coordination of data to ensure acompatible design.
May act in an advisorycapacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
Understands and appliescommonly used company design standards and methods. May assist in the establishment or revisionof guidelines and standards.
Performs otherresponsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
4-year degree in Engineering(or related field) and 10 years of related work experience. ProfessionalEngineer registration may be required.
Proficiency in utilizingCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with drainage engineeringis required. In particular must be proficient with 3d drainage design softwareand the interfaces with other up to date design software such as Civil3D, MX,Inroads, AutoCad, and Microstation.
Reports to the DrainageManager.
Coordinates with theother Senior Engineers from Other Disciplines.
Coordinates with Clientskey staff and all Authorities in connection with obtaining NOCs.
