Carries out fabrication work for the maintenance, repair and installation of various equipment in the plant.Includes the fabrication of high pressure pipelines, structure, tanks and fabrication work for repairs of vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers, stock and other refinery equipment.
Receives verbal instruction, work orders, sketches and drawings from Supervisor, establishes requirements and obtains necessary equipment, tools and materials.
Carries out fabrication of pipelines, alloy and non-alloy, in workshop and at site, including those for high pressure temperature service.
This includes setting out work on site or in workshop, marking pipes and structures and tack welding for completion by welders.
Fabricates various structures for installation in plant, such as supports and platforms for various equipment.
Carries out the pre-fabrication and fitting of furnace tubes of various sizes and materials in the repair of furnace, boilers, air coolers, heat exchangers and for any new installation work.
Fabricates and carries out field installation after making repairs to tanks, vessels and stacks.
Complies with all safety and fire rules and regulations, including the use of protective clothing and equipment, and maintains work location in a clean and tidy condition at all times including removal of wastes and spillages.
Carries out other similar or related duties and assigned, such as obtaining required work and welding permits prior to starting work, salvaging materials and tools where possible, returning tools and mechanical equipment to tool stores after use, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Completion of Preparatory (12 years) technical secondary education, followed by 2 years’ formal training or apprenticeship in a related discipline.
6 years’ experience in the fabrication of piping and structure and the fabrication repair or installation of various equipment in chemical plant or a refinery.
Knowledge of ferrous / non-ferrous welding essential.
Working knowledge of English.
Writing and speaking.
Good Computer skills.
