Job Description

Supervise and manage Work Management work order planning for Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) - based work. Review and establish appropriate I&C maintenance staff qualifications, skills, training and availability to create work orders which may be included in scheduling or additional outage.

Assist in the development and monitoring of the execution of I&C-based Preventive Maintenance (PM) work and related pre-

planned I&C and cross-discipline maintenance, in coordination with Operations Work Control for plant mode, Limiting Condition for Operation’s (LCO’s) and technical specification(s) in force.

  • Work Planning
  • Supervise and manage work order planning with regard to I&C based WM to ensure work is planned and managed for maximum safety, operability and protection of plant assets.
  • Verify and review BNPP I&C equipment, components and determinants to ensure selection of the proper equipment from the Master Equipment List and design drawings.
  • Understand plant Master Equipment and configuration to be able to plan work around plant operations activities, or optimize outage work.
  • Assist in planning tasks and responsibilities for vendors or contractors assigned to perform I&C work in the plant.
  • Coordinate work planning within the WM Function in the Plant to ensure alignment of work planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement and Construction - EPC (Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO)) and vendors to better understand digital I&C and Westinghouse computers deployed in the Barakah plant.
  • Coordinate with schedulers, designate at least 1 schedule reviewer in the I&C Section, and train them in Primavera (P6) use.
  • Understand Work Order Closure and assist in development of Root Cause / Common Cause and Failure Mode analyses to review and analyze work quality, performance, reasons for component failure and equipment asset condition.
  • Work Order Development and Packaging
  • Supervise I&C work planners in the development, assembly and review of I&C - based work order package to be scheduled for plant work.
  • Incorporate the work order requirements into daily work planning to ensure the activities are being executed.
  • Review and verify contents of I&C work package templates, including permits, training and qualification for a specific work requirements, discipline requirements, Parts and BOM, Safety-
  • Related components, quality levels, component relationships and integration with other related work orders.

  • Identify and report Configuration Management, Document and Engineering errors identified during work planning and help to resolve.
  • Understand the development of parts lists and Bills of Material (BoM) to create Material Requests, and understand the requisition process, time constraints and supply chain requirements for non-stock parts.
  • Understand availability and checkout process for Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) equipment for surveillance, alignment and calibration work.
  • Understand the identification and tracking of digital I&C software and firmware updates and configuration, as well as the effects of slipstreaming , or undocumented upgrades to version numbers.
  • Staffing and Qualification Management
  • Understand training and qualification credential requirements for I&C maintenance staff.
  • Matching maintenance staff qualifications, skills, training and availability to create work orders with the proper staffing.
  • Submit to Outage and Online Work Managers for inclusion in scheduling or additional outage planning (scheduled, forced, contingent and plant modification).
  • Planning Interface
  • Plan clearance and tagging, and permit requirements for work orders.
  • Review and modify as needed for I&C PM’s and other recurring work orders and surveillances to ensure configuration control.
  • Coordinate with Operations work control organization to include required elements of work events currently underway in the plant.
  • Minimize backlog and develop plans to maintain reliability.
  • Vendor and Outsourced I&C Work
  • Understanding and utilization of vendor manuals (VM’s), warranty documents and other external documents and data in the development of work plans and work order media.
  • Manage ongoing vendor-based I&C work in the plant, including work associated with plant modification packages specifically identified as I&C-based.
  • Understand and assist in managing site access requirements for specialized vendor computers and M&TE devices to be utilized for I&C work.
  • I&C Preventive Maintenance
  • Monitor execution of PM Requirements.
  • Understand and develop pre-planned maintenance requirements, in coordination with Operations Work Control (including warranty, surveillance, rework, etc.
  • for plant mode, LCO’s and technical specification(s) in force.

  • Consult with Design Engineering, Maintenance and vendors, as needed, to assist in development or change of PM’s.
  • Assist in the development of Work Plans ( Model Work Orders ) to ensure work plans are appropriate to the WM requirements in the Plant.
  • Ensure compliance with Tech Spec intervals and work frequencies; report documentation errors and resolve to ensure that work is performed at the appropriate time and with respect to legal limitations for Plant operation.
  • Maintain high self-identification ratios.
  • Management and Supervision
  • Coach on Conditional Reporting and Observation to raise awareness .
  • Assist in assessing and recommending WM Software Use and Training (OMS, eSOMS, P6, RIMS / Phoenix, eWP, etc.) to ensure selection of the correct digital solutions and products.
  • Work with the Industry and NGO resources for WM and the nuclear arts, including INPO, EPRI, WANO, IAEA, etc., to understand and apply industry standards and best practices to work planning.
  • Health and Safety and Security
  • Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure Health and Safety compliance in all aspects of work per sound management practices by applying these Health and Safety policies and procedures to self and others to take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of people, or the environment, who are at the employee's place of work who may be affected by the employees acts or omissions at work.
  • Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities.
  • People Management

  • Skills

    Bachelor’s degree in I&C Engineering or related Science with 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent

    Technical Competency

  • Understands nuclear plant WM, design, modification and supporting processes.
  • Understands typical WM programs and methods for assuring safety and quality as they impact Nuclear Power Plant operation with respect to I&C work.
  • Identify WM stakeholders and establish relationships with peers within the site and across the nuclear industry that permit assumption of a leadership role in the organization.
  • Familiar particularly with I&C maintenance and program knowledge from non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) such as INPO, WANO, and EPRI, as well as major EPC’s and vendors.
  • Understands risk management and work coordination with work control in the nuclear power plant.
