Key Job Responsibilities
The role holder will contribute to theperformance of the hotel by implementing the sequence service to ensure guestsatisfaction.
The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for processing paymentsthrough cash, check or electronic card, making change, and handing out receiptsas per standard procedures.
Handlesthe billing and receiving of payments in all outlets in a timely, accurate andprofession manner which ensures guest satisfaction and minimizes losses to thehotel.
Assists the food and beverage team with food and beverage preparation,service and clearing and cleaning in peak times.
Process payment transactions by collecting payment (through cash, check or electronic card), making change, and handing out receipts as per standard procedures.
Maintain knowledge of current sales, policies regarding payments and security practices, in order to ensure policies are adhered to at all times.
Open / close cash registers on a daily basis, count money, ensure cash control is maintained, perform handover when applicable and report any discrepancy.
Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
Receive payment by cash, credit cards, and any other means of payments acceptable in the restaurant.
Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.
Monitor checkout stations to ensure that they have adequate cash available and that they are staffed appropriately.
Sort, count, and wrap currency and coins.
Professionally handle enquiries billing and payment of bills inpliancy with the hotel’s established policies and procedures.
Strictly adhere to the hotel’s established policies and procedures with regard to the handling of payments, credit, house funds and shift hand over.
Ensure that sufficient stocks of checks, printed materials, cigarettes and small denotation are available at all times in the outlet.
Verify the postings made by the wait staff on the pre-checking terminals and where necessary to make amendments to items billed, number of guests, etc in accordance with the hotel’s established policies and procedures.
Account for all guests in numerical sequence, including those received from and / or handled over to other cashiers as well as voided and / or cancelled checks.
Ensure the charged bill is checked against room number and name in accordance withputer listing prior to posting.
Ensure that all work is balanced at the end of each shift and that the total, balances with theputer’s total.
Inform the Asst. F&B Manager of any problems encountered during shift and clearly document in the outlet’s log book. In urgent cases, call the Ie Auditor immediately, or in the absence the Manager on Duty.
Ensure that the cashier workstation is tidy and clean at all times.
Assists the food and beverage outlet team in peak and idle times.
Experience, Certification & Education
High School Degree / Bachelor in Accounting Degree
1-2 years of experience in customer service in a similar role
Fluency in English (verbal & non-verbal)
