JOB PURPOSE :
Initiate planning related activities and support the coordination of the various projects as may be undertaken or assigned to the Special Projects Unit, within the approved costs, timelines, functionality and quality in order to ensure that the project cycle is completed and meets the agreed project parameters, standards, statutory requirements and objectives.
Job Specific Accountabilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
Support and assist in the development and refinement of the vision and long term strategy for the Unit, and contribute to the overall process of corporate governance, management and corporate decision making to ensure the organization maximizes returns to its shareholders.
Contribute to the development of the Unit's Business Strategy, ensuring that the Company’s overall business goals are fully supported by the Unit.
Assist in the development of frameworks for strategic, organizational, management solutions according to key special project requirements, providing customized and innovative approaches.
Contribute to the feasibility study for all projects assigned to the special projects unit which are organizational in nature in order to ensure that the foundation is laid before the project is rolled out.
Coordinate project execution and delivery by prioritizing, setting project timelines and plan of actions in order to achieve conformity and consistency among different projects undertaken in the Unit.
Assist in setting the overall project management framework and guidelines aligned with international best practices, for effective planning, delivery and execution of various projects.
Review project proposals and plans to assist in determining the more appropriate methodologies, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, manning requirements and allocating available resources to the various phases of the projects in accordance with the agreed plans.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Maintain proper communication and liaison with all Directorates / Units of the company, government bodies and external contractors in order to ensure that the execution of projects are carried out within approved budgets and as per scope of work, and smoothly with respect to performance and progress through all phases of the project till completion and successful handover.
Assist in facilitating effective alignment and reporting on projects and ensure that execution is at all times within the stated timelines, quality and budgets.
Project Risks and Control
Identify project associated risks in terms of procedures and processes as well as provide recommendations and propose solutions in order to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and risk avoidance for various projects.
Provide professional advice, such as, project planning and cost control to minimize / mitigate project risks in accordance with industry / international best practices.
