Key Accountabilities :

  • Lead and coach the drill teams to ensure adherence to safety requirements according to the company’s HSE policies and local health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Support the investigation and close out of drilling and quality related incidents.
  • Implement new initiatives, methods or technologies to improve safety and equipment performance.
  • Continually drive and motivate offshore staff on good drilling practice and attitude.
  • Formulate project execution strategy plant & equipment requirement, drill rig set up and operational methodology in conjunction with the operations manager.
  • As required assisting with production of drill string configurations, borehole plans and drilling fluid programs.

  • Ensure maximum production and full utilization of all equipment, tools, manpower and facilities involved with drilling operations.
  • Reducing leakage through efficient operation.

  • Support the mobilisation to site of drill rigs, small geotechnical platforms or small vessels and the crew.
  • Technical / Drilling point of contact to onshore and nearshore field operations during project execution.
  • Monitor market fluctuation and technical developments in all areas of 3rd party supplied drilling equipment and drilling fluid.
  • Be actively involved with the procurement of drilling equipment and tooling, rigs, and also extraneous drilling plant, to ensure best value and budget compliance.
  • Liaise with other Fugro technical teams on project solutions and equipment integration.
  • Review project documents (DPRs & Drill Logs) to ensure compliance with correct drilling methodology, and ensure daily targets are met to achieve maximum production throughout entire project lifecycle.
  • Support professional development, recruitment, training and discipline of Drilling personnel
  • Take a lead role in design and implementation of competency assessment scheme for Drill Crew and Supervisors.
  • Carryout site visits to ensure drilling standards are maintained on the onshore and nearshore drill rigs.
  • Support production of project documentation, produce drilling method statements and procedures.
  • Input and assistance into the tendering process for pricing, drilling methodology and data collection.

  • Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by allemployees.
  • Qualifications required :

  • Technical / trade school certificate or higher
  • Skills / experience required to do the job :

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with various drilling techniques & drilling equipment, diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, small boats and Self Elevated Platforms
  • Experience of working with a multicultural workforce an advantage
  • Proven Experience of systems implementation and improvement processes an advantage
