Job Description JOB ROLE & PURPOSE : Job holders at this level lead the drafting team responsible for structural engineering drafting group multi project activities ensuring work completion on time and to set standards.

DOC reports to E&I Discipline Engineering Manager and all drafting staff consisting of Sr. Designers, Designers, Sr. Draftsmen, Draftsmen and operators etc reports to DOC. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervises and provides technical guidance to drafting staff.
  • Acts as an expert for all functions performed by designers, team leaders and other drafting staff and assist in their development and skill level increase.
  • Monitors staff performance in provides input for annual appraisal.
  • Ensures optimum use of drafting staff.
  • Priorities all drafting activities, assess man-power requirement and assigns work to various team leaders / draftsmen.
  • Guides in discipline-specific drafting activities carried out by designers, team leaders and other draftsmen ensuring that work assignments are completed on time with in the allotted man-hours and to set standards.
  • Ensures all engineering deliverables are as per the project specifications, guidelines, quality standards, company procedures etc.
  • Interacts with other disciplines and Project Engineering managers to ensure smooth flow of all drafting input on all projects / enquiries.
  • Estimation of man-power requirement for various types of enquiries for bidding purpose.
  • Ensures adherence to technical quality and acts as the ultimate checker for all deliverables.
  • Ensure consistency of all deliverables.
  • Ensures the compliance with the IDC procedures for the project.
  • Ensures adherence to drafting records requirements such as master files, check prints etc.
  • Guides drafting staff in checking of all MTOs, Bill of Materials, sketches etc. required for material procurement for the entire project, ensuring accuracy.
  • Provides input for the resolution of engineering queries from clients or third parties.
  • Skills Required MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Technical Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 14 years relevant experience, with at least 4 years as DOC or similar.
  • Must have worked on major offshore EPC projects as team leader for at least 6 years.
  • Must have experience of detailed and construction engineering activities with direct interaction with yard.
  • Supervisory experience with leadership qualities.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Good interdisciplinary knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Experienced and competent Computer Aided Design (CAD) operator (AutoCAD latest release).
  • Rigorous checker.
