The IT Manager Field Services key role is to manage, guide and mentor technology associates at multiple locations by assisting them in producing positive business impacts by maximizing the effective use of technology.

They will support IT hardware, software and communications at their assigned hotel properties (Supervision includes work direction, career development, and performance management).

  • Other responsibilities include : Assists with IT installations, integration, troubleshooting and maintenance efforts within the assigned area;
  • Coordinates with Marriott corporate IT technical support, Lodging systems, and support providers and vendors; Opimizes guest and hotel staff satisfaction by ensuring business processes and services are supported by highly reliable technology;
  • Provides temporary technical support for MI locations that have vacant IT positions or for locations not supported by a property based IT professional and ensures appropriate support of IT systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Hospitality, Business or a related field; successful completion of technology management required.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in back of the house, guest facing operational and technical experience with hospitality management systems, including support of applications, hardware & troubleshooting PC hardware.
  • Has extensive experience supporting peripherals, application support, and building solid relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Has excellent problem solving skills.

  • Has two or more years of management experience and ability to manage and develop others.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of time.
  • Previous experience with Marriott International is required.
  • Maintaining Goals

  • Submits reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
  • Promotes the documenting of project progress accurately.
  • Provides input and assistance to other teams regarding projects.
  • Keeps current with the hotel properties’ and like-industry uses of technology.
  • Manages Profit & Loss statement for self and other revenue generating departments within Shared Service Agreement locations (when applicable).
  • Managing Work, Projects, and Policies

  • Manages and implements work and projects as assigned.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc in a scheduled manner.
  • May assist as the local contact point for installation of Marriott custom applications and packaged software.
  • Educates hotel based IT associates on information technology and its costs / benefit to their organization.
  • Ensures that through management of activities and / or hands on involvement, the hotel infrastructure and applications systems are functional at all times.
  • Assists the Middle East & Africa or Regional IT Executive as on-site project manager who plans, schedules and communicates resource needs and status.
  • Identifies, analyzes, organizes and solves issues and problems creatively, effectively and quickly. Understands issues relevant to the broad organization and business.
  • Has and uses cross-functional knowledge. Develops pros and cons to each alternative to arrive at best’; incorporates what if’ basis for alternatives.

    Maintains current understanding of where technology is going and how this direction can be leveraged today and in future strategies.

    Applies those aspects of a forward moving technology view that make sense for the business. Generates imaginative solutions in business situations.

    Consistently originates new ideas; knows how to change the context to take advantage of an idea.

  • Performs an assessment of needs ensuring compliance with Marriott standards, budget and capital requirements. Makes recommendations for technology related purchases and capital expenditures.
  • Determines priorities, schedules, plans, and necessary resources to ensure completion of any hotel projects on schedule and according to specification.

    Directs and works with property IT associates in preparing the project plan and managing the project. Coordinates multiple vendor projects.

    Performs on-site monitoring of all projects with property-based IT associates.

  • Understands IT technology platforms and technical direction. Maintains a working understanding of technology changes in the areas of information processing, the hospitality / lodging industry, systems development methods and tools.
  • Directs support for installation of client applications and is the local contact point for applications, hardware, software, and operating systems needs.
  • Coordinates first and second level support to property IT associates for technical and application problems. Conducts equipment performance audits
  • and provides recommendations for performance improvement.

  • Ensures that computer and network operations are monitored on the property site, backup / recovery functions are performed on scheduled basis and administration functions for hardware, operating and application systems are maintained and completed on a consistent basis.
  • Driving IT policies and standards protecting company hardware, software and other resources at the hotel. Delivering client-
  • driven projects and requests within budget and time constraints.

  • Directs maintenance of equipment and installed software applications inventory for all supported clients ensuring compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Ensures proper asset management.

  • Manages vendors for property IT requirements functioning as escalation point for problem resolution.
  • Ensures solutions are consistent with the client's needs and Marriott's IR environment.
  • Recommends property technology training and development.
  • Participates in screening and selection of property technology staff.
  • Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge

  • Provide technical expertise and support to persons inside and outside of the department.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of function-specific procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to job.
  • Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data and / or process information.
  • Ensure new technology requests are consistent with MI systems and technology standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to multiple IT focused associates at MI locations within a specific area. Ensures the health and integrity of hotel IT infrastructure.
  • Prepares performance evaluations for property based technology associates as required.
